I think that roseau will be a little worse than this year but they have some great players from the jv team that will move up and also some players from bantams like baumgartener and omdahl that should help

upnorth heres one if section 8AA is so easy why dont you look at some history of the state high school hockey tournament and see 8AA hardley ever finishes worse than 5th. usually end up in the top 3. on the topic if lee leaves this year the rams will struggle. goal tending is gona become a serious issue as far as the eye can see at this point.

A look into the future, I see Warroad hockey sinking faster than the Titanic. All that will be left is the History. :(

Would you say that roso's future looks brighter? After getting completly outclassed by the cities teams this year?

Ness, Lee and all the Rams did not play very well at all in the 2nd and 3rd games of the tourney, and the answer to that is that Hill and Benilde outplayed them and and had a very good game plan going in.

Hill & Benilde were by far the better teams on both days.

Hey, anything can happen on any given weekend; it happens in all sports all the time...
The Gophers, who have played miserably all year; so then they put together three games this weekend to beat a better team, Minnesota State-Mankato.
The Georgia Bulldogs won 4 games over the weekend to win the SEC Tournament in basketball tourney and they were a horrible 5-12 in the SEC conference play... Now they are dancing...

Yes, I think Hill should be State Champ and I think they played great all weekend in the tourney, but lets keep this context of what happened and perception... Roseau was a very good team that did not play well at state, it happens, they had a bad weekend to not play well, but that takes nothing away from the team they were this past year.

Next year, if Lee & Landman stay in town as Rams, they should represent Section 8AA again. Hey, get into the State tourney, and anything can happen...

First thing roseau will be as dominate next year as they were this year. As far as the batams coming up there is not one that will make the varsity squad. They went two and out in the state tournament were not very dominate when they played in the regular season.
Now lets take a look at the kids that are going to be seniors.
Chris Olson
Trevor George
Kyle Wensloff
Brooks Lohmen
Mike Koenig
Eric mattson
These kids will fill in very nice on the varsity squad. Mattson,Koenig and George was already there and played a role in this years state trip. Let me remind all of you that Mattson, George, Olson, Wensloff, Koenig went to state as peewee, and bantams and had a fourth palce finish as pewee and a 3rd place finish as bantams. The only studs with them then was Lee and Oliver. People need to wake up and realize there is other kids in Roseau that did help this years team get to state and also will be a big part of next years team. Roseau will be back next year looking as good as the year before wearing the same green and white and looking to return to state. GO RAMS!!!!

MyHockey,

I think that everyone in the state except the Roseau forum users and the media believed that you had a very talented FULL team of athletes. But for the months leading up to the tourney all we heard was Ness, Lee, Ness, Lee, Ness, Lee. After a while it was hard to ignore.

Roseau will continue to have many more good teams and many more great teams! We all (except maybe the Moorhead people) look forward to seeing you at the Excel.

Thanks DmanDad. This is well stated and puts Roseau's state tournament performance and year into a proper perspective.

Don't you wish. The boys will be back next year--with a few new faces added. There isn't a better place to play hockey (or team to play for).

I'd be surprised if any non-graduating player left. Could happen, but I'd be surprised.

I disagree Ogee, Warroad will fly into Roseau International Airport on the big MW plane and pick up all of Roseau's juniors and fly them back with all expenses paid to Warroad and they will be crowned 2009 Class A State Champs! Thats what my inside sources say and they will remain nameless at this time.

The new faces will come from the JV and bantam teams. Roseau grows their own players.

Why don't you go crawl back in your hole--or better yet, go down to the clinic, because you seem to have mental issues.

up north. way out classed? seems to me it was two hockey games. i know one thing edina was the cock of the walk in the cities and hill murry looked every bit as good against them as they did roseau.

on another note roseau will not be as strong as last year but it means little because all teams change every year and the field next year maybe alittle weaker all around. roseau does get a new face around here once in awhile but i know they are not recruited. some come just because they want to play hockey here i cant say i blame them its a great place to play. im sure its the same every where when good hockey can be found and with that comes a chance to play at the x.

As for Roseau moving down to A it will never happen, dont ever entertain that idea, and to say that '07 was a fluke because all the GOOD teams lost is a joke, the '07 Rams were far better than this years team both defensively and offensively. They would have won again if the SAME team was back.

Well, I think that last year's team had a stronger defense at least...

Regarding them not playing tough teams to get the title...totally not true, especially since the Rams beat the best team in the state last year (Moorhead) just to get to the tournament. Too bad for Moorhead, they probably would have picked up their first 'ship.

Enough of the past...let's look at the future. What do these Rams gotta do to make it to that final game at the X next year? To me, it looks like they'll have a decent team unless a key player or two bolts... The defense needs some help, though.

You win the 'ship with solid defense. If the opponent can't score on you, you won't lose--just ask Hill.
