I like the sleek one to go 6.
Boof will give up some moon shots and a few frozen ropes but will escape with the following line:
IP 6
ER 4
SO 3
Hits 8
Walks 2
NOPs 86
Then it will be up to the relievers to hold it and the rest of the team to:

Boof Bonser - 4.2 innings
Discuss.
Over. Boof will go five innings, they will be of the laborous, long, and rocky varieties. However, I think Garland will get beat around a little bit too.
I'm not sensing another taffy pull tonight.

If the Twins take another called first strike in the Fifth, now that they have done so for four innings straight...
This team has to jump on some of these first pitch strikes!
2-0 into the fifth, need runs, need to think outside of the box to get things rolling, and Garland is serving first pitch strikes...
Jump on em!

Well, at least Torii is still 0 for the season.
Of course, so is Morneau...

I think Kendrick going out of his way to spike Mauer with a 6-1 lead was more than a little over the top, while Gardy says thats how to play the game. If thats how you play the game, then tonight Kendrick gets some chin music on the first pitch to him, and drilled in the back on the second.
After all, thats how you play THAT game.

That was a team effort.
Boof pitched OK.
Sloppy D and lifeless, punchless pathetic offense.
Then the best relief staff in the majors really shined.
Young is the only one who has not been infected yet by this culture of bad hitting that is such a part of Twins baseball.
That was Jon boofin Garland on the mound folks, not Sandy Koufax
Has anyone even hit it as far as the warning track yet?
Lets go. Drive a ball in the gap.

It's a marathon, not a sprint. Season long consistency is the key to a successful season, and the Twins seem to have started on a consistent path. Lookin' good boys!

At least Morneau is leading the team anyway...0 for 10, not one ball hit out of the infield.

I was at the game last night. I had really good seats to the left of home plate.
Blackburn has some nasty breaking stuff and good location on a 92 mph fastball.
The Twins hitters are anemic, weak and punchless. Its embarrasing.
But OK , they arent hitting so lets do a litttle hit and run and bunting. Nope, cant execute it.
He has Gomez bunting inthe 9th last night after a lead of walk to the #9 hitter. I dont get that. Let him try and hit it somewhere and beat it out. If he hits a ground ball, he will beat the relay and be on first to steal second.
It doesnt matter though, they cant execute anything. What do they do in Florida every Feb and March? Play golf?

As I have been browsing the Hill-Murray website for admission requirements, I see packerboy has returned the favor by enrolling in Irishmans Shanty's Academy for the Advancement of Bunting.
4 extra basehits in 101 AB's. Whew!
Gardy will have zero margin for error in most games this year.
Tolbert's walk was great and all but I would have had Mauer hit for him.
It was all set up for a rally, your best hitter coming off the bench for your nine man, Pinch run for him when he gets on and you're back to the top of the order. You know the lineup is bad when you have to pinch hit for #2 guy.

You know, if its the only way to get a guy to second, lets do it. The problem with it is that they cant even do that right.
What do they do in Florida?

I think they can bunt, but they don't know the difference between a drag bunt and a sacrifice bunt.
Good gosh, Cargo looked like he was playing soccer last night, he was kicking balls all over the infield. Now his soccer display in the first was ok, but in the ninth he bunted for a basehit 3 times instead of just trying to get it down and move along Tolbert.

Which brings up an interesting question: What the boof do they do in Florida?

Who would have pinch ran for Mauer? Kubel? Lamb? They should have done exactly what they did. Let Tolbert get on, have Gomez move him over, then Mauer pinch hits and drives him home. They made the right chocies, Gomez just didn't execute.

Neither did Mauer. Agreed it was the right move, the only thing to do different is to put Tolbert in motion. He's a speedy guy with some good basestealing skills. If they're going to have to play small ball to score runs, then they should actually play small ball.

Everett should've been available. If he wasn't Punto and Tolbert can't be in the same starting lineup.
If you've got a rostered middle infielder who can't hit, he better have two other tools (speed and defense). If Everett can't pinch run, he can't play for this team.
