nipe 6 wrote:give cambridge hockey about 3 or 4 more years and they will be in the middle of the section 7 pack. They had a decent Peewee A team (which they have never had before) and beat some quality teams, a few were ranked I believe. A few factors that will decide how good they will be is if they actually hire a good coach that knows what he is doing. And also if the younger Chumley stays. I heard his family isn't to fond of Cambridge and Garet tried to transfer. Its only a matter of time they are no longer competing for the bottom of the section year and year out.
cambridge is going no where if the good players transfer like the younger chumley they need a good bantam coach cause i heard just micek will be the the varsity assistant that will bw good

they are not dirty how are they dirty cayse they beat teams by working hard and going to the corners unlike the others schools that are scared to hit and dont go in the corner

They went to a shootout with the team from Florida that eventually won it. They had 10 or 11 skaters, four of which are jv or will be cut.

looks to me that they took 7th place in the weak division on the weekend. Improving, yes, could it get worse?

shakopee had them 4-1 with 2:00 left when the Shakopee coach left his 10th graders in to finish the game. Cambridge scored 2 fast and instead of letting the Seniors come in and stop the momentum he left the Soph's in to either win or lose the game... Looks like the Shakopee Soph's held on to win.. It really wasn't close the entire game.

I hope that's not Shakopees varsity. Like I said, C-I had 1 player who was cut as a junior, 3 that played B2 Bantams last year, and 2 who were strictly j. v. There were only 4 skaters who will be top two lines next season, 3 forwards and 1 d.

By dirty, I meant that they are an awful team. Horrible.

I was talking to one of there parents during and after the game (Shakopee) They said it was only the first line and the rest JV and upcoming 10th graders. It seems they will be a very young team this year.

The Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets will be a much improved hockey team in 08-09. Since playing in the spring showcase league, 4 from that team went on to play on the elite II 7A/7AA team, which won the championship!
By the way, out of the 3 elite II playoff games won, there were 2 shut-outs recorded and the was by a CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI GOALTENDER and the othe 3 players worked hard and played well with the rest of the team and showed great sportmanship throughout the season.
Congrats to the C/I and 7A/7AA team!

Interesting...but I'll believe they're improving when they can avoid running time in the first round of the 7AA playoffs.

Anybody check the score from the Two Harbors vs Cambridge-Isanti game? I believe it was 9-1! Sure you say it was TH. Yes that right they have a varsity hockey team and they show up to compete just like all the other teams in the gopher state.
C-I improving? Maybe....depends who you ask? Ask someone who has followed the past teams and coaches and I would say that Coach Carlson has a good group of hockey players that will surprise many teams this season. Offensively during this game you had goals from many different players. Defensively, TH was shut down and only was able to score 1 goal.
Stay tuned all you hockey fans for more messages on this subject of " Is Cambridge-Isanti improving?"

They teamed up with North Branch in youth hockey to compete at the A-level. so far I have heard they fair ok against Centennial and Blaine and very well against other teams in the district. So they should be able to get a few better seasoned players each year,if they stay merged.

"A" Bantams..
Centennial 5, CINB 1
Blaine 5, CINB 0
Not sure if 10-1 is "faired ok"
Rogers 7, CINB 2
Coon Rapids 4, CINB 3
CINB 4, Champlin Park 2
CINB 7, Andover 5
CINB is 2-4
Wins over 2 teams with 1 win each...
Maybe give it a few more yrs...

According to the Strib. Buffalo 8, Cambridge 6. A lot closer than I thought it was going to be, but maybe the score doesn't indicate how the game went.

Empty netter at the end for the Bison. Second period was brutal for CI goalie. Let in 5 straight goals after a great first period that helped CI go out to a 3-1 lead.
He should have been pulled in the second.
