The Junior Gold B player mentioned earlier in this thread is a pretty good player and I would not count him out. Just because he has the Junior Gold label does not mean he is bad. He should have been on Edina's JV team last year but because of typical Edina hockey politics he did not make it, and the Junior Gold A team was stacked last year and is usually reserved for juniors and seniors, but not in all cases.

Yes. And it's funny because I don't even like him, but i won't get into that. Haven't seen him play in a long while so I don't know how where his skills are at now.

it most likely wasn't politics that got him cut considering his brother made the team and the oldest brother is playing d1

In hockey isn't "politics" often just synonymous with "just not quite good enough to make the team"? It always was in youth hockey and from my experience, the same can be said at the high school level. I think High School coaches typically want to win as much as youth hockey coaches, so not picking the best kids for their team really doesn't make much sense - especially if you're Edina and expected to win!
Guess we'll see when the BSM team is chosen...

The kid getting
cut after his brother makes the team AND has another brother playing D1 is the opposite of "politics" at work. An average player MAKING a team because his brother made it AND his older brother is playing D1 hockey is the definition of "politics" in sports. The average player making "Elite" teams because of who they know, how much many Daddy has and their name is "politics.

It might not hurt if daddy owns his own hockey rink too

16 games
2 goals
4 assists
46 penalty minutes
Most penalties in the league
Sounds like a goon or can't keep up and has to grab, clutch or impede.

Assuming minor penalties... 23 penalties in 16 games.
Sounds like a goon to me.
Even a clutch and grab guy wouldnt need to have more than a penalty a game.

Check that link... didn't go through all, but had a couple of 10 min misconducts. Probably swore at the ref or something.

It's ok... just that time of year. Two tens for unsportsmanlike conduct certainly show a disturbing pattern for the boy, especially in a fall league. Hopefully for him and his team he learns from that and doesn't repeat it during the season, otherwise he'll be seeing the bench quite a bit I would guess.

I consider it politics when kids a lot worse than him make the team and those parents are known for getting their kids on whatever team they want, but I understand where you all are coming from. But I would like to state that there is alotbof politics in most associations, especially Edina. A former president of the board told me ""I have seen so much political bullsh** in that association that it makes me sick and I would never do it again." but as for palm he does have a short temper and a bad reputation but we will just have to wait and see how it all unfolds.

I think it was a little bit of both. edinas 6th d was terrible some tall skinny kid. all politics aside he doesnt sound like a sick player that really got scrwed. Also i ave heard palm is quite the goon and from what i hear pauley doesnt like goons and alot of penalties.

Don't know if he's a captain, but Glenn was a good looking player in the tournament last year, or has he left for juniors?
