I guess what TFW is trying to say is that the Wisconsin Jr. Badgers frequently recruit loaner players from Tier 1 AAA teams in Minnesota to freelance on their team to win open level tournaments. Nice. I'm sure the Wisconsin Badger players, and families, that signed up, paid, practiced, traveled and had their playing time reduced by loaner players they've never met before were pleased. Jr. Badger organization management has lost their focus.

Open means open. Invite means invite. I've seen other Wisconsin teams use this philosophy to improve their open level teams. The Northern Wisconsin Blizzards come to mind.

TFW has shown total confusion, on a number of issues, in a short time.

1.) Focus? I'm not that arrogant to claim to know any teams or org. "focus" That sort of claim would only come from someone who is still mad from a loss to a certain team (jr Badgers)... get over it....
2.) All teams recruit for any given tourney - period. Sorry to break your heart on this one, but its pretty much the norm....
3.) I went to the Jr Badger website and did some investigating and offer you to do the same......At least you will be better educated prior to offering another oppinion. It appears to me that they have 17 Ttl MN players out of approx. 150+ players on there entire rosters on all teams.........ALong with that, you can also see their success and I must say I am impressed with it. Hats off to them & there org and poo poo to you to be bothered that badly by summer hockey and any org/team..... Lord knows I have watched my kids play and lose to "stacked" teams over the years.... Open, Invite or for that matter "any" classification......Along with that I do need to point out that you should get off your MN high horse and realize that WI hockey is also good. They beat our MN team in the Chicago Showcase this year 5-2. They also took 2nd in last years HSEL.
So, confused - NO. sick ofyour whine - yes! Should I put my son/daughter on one of there teams in the Midwest AAA Elite League - heck ya. As long as my kid has fun, life is good.:-) Perhaps you should do the same.....

observer I agree with you. An open tournament means open, play the team that you have practiced with. The last open tournament that i seen was dominated by Invite loaner players. It is sort of false advertising when a summer team is looking for players to pay the bills, and they can say how many wins that they had and how many trophies that they won. But in reality the wins and trophies did not come from the players that pay all summer to practice and then have to sit during tournaments while the loaner players are winning the games for them.

Dingle/Observer, you may want to consider that just maybe your teams/kids are not really AAA caliber and should not have entered the tournament in the first place. Maybe try a weaker tournament. Just another way of looking at it.

Wow their site list a few players that are from the metro.

I know that they had players that "filled" in that are not listed.......if you have 23 players on your roster and can't get enough for a tournament (or 2), well that tends to draw peoples attention. Seems odd that you can have a schedule set an can't get a team of 15 skaters from a roster that large.

Mad at a loss, well you may want to ask the Northern Wings parents that question.... I can't answer that for you.

I dont think summer hockey trnys get much weaker then this open tourney.
How many of you dad's/mom's played adult softball? Well a true A ball player showing up and playing for a team in a recreational trny is bunk.... Open is for team that are composed of decent hockey players, the invite is for teams composed of A level players.

Seriously......are you 4 or 5? Misleading? Give me a break. The kids play the game, not you. Do you honestly think they "think" things of who is on the team, or "who is not"? The kids are there to have fun. Keep parents like you out and everyone enjoys the game alittle more!

Yes, I've been to a many softball tourneys and yes, there too are the ringers...... in fact in a lot - if not all sports they show up and help their team whip the other team. Again, this is reality, this is life. Get over it!
And BTW. I have watched many "open & Invite" tourneys. I might suggest your concern of "equality to be directed to the tourney hosts. I have seen weak teams in the "invite" and Strong 6A teams in the "Open" division. Again, I bet it will happen at both levels in the easton cup. Are you going to whine then too..........

Open, Invite, or other..........? Lets face it. Each level of tournament is good for various kids at various levels. From the development side of things, it is good to have your child have success at the open level, and in the invite be a strong player. It is a combination of both that make the player better, builds their confidence, and keeps thier love for the game.
We all have our oppinions on these various levels, teams, etc. The reality is that ALL teams recruit, ALL teams have conflicts with there players, ALL teams pick up additional games &/or Tourneys that may indeed change the face of the team behind the jersey. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad. Ofcourse, only the loss side of a tourney or game do you hear the whinning as we are with regards to this subject - pathetic!
Like a prior post said, you aren't going to make calls to pick up players to weaken your team. End of subject.

I do think that this topic was beat to death at the time it happened, but if the jr. badgers are revving up for another run at a championship than the organization deserves the criticism. I lost track of who pointed it out, but the real disappointment here are the people who run the tournaments and allow this to happen. Showcase makes a big deal about being selective about what local teams it is allowing into their tournaments but in reality it is about business and who their partners are. The jr. badgers (who without their Blades ringers were beat by a regular run of the mill Showcase team--and, yes, the kids know long before the parents do who is on the ice with them) should be placed in the invite division or held to their roster. Oh wait, the Open tournament is the same weekend as the Duluth tournament and an out of state tournament or two, so maybe their ringer kids will have prior commitments.

As far as the recruiting and bringing in Ringers, I have to say that I don't believe this is the norm for established programs. The true AAA teams don't have a need for this and none of the teams my sons have been involved with have ever brought in a kid just to play a tournament. I wouldn't write another check to the organization that did it.

we can also debate levels of summer hockey, but the fact is Showcase exists and those kids play there for a lot of reasons, mainly, I hope that a number of those parents get that when a kid is 22 he'll likely remember camping trips with his family more than another hockey practice. Congrats to those families who pick less commitment. Maybe their kids are off making new friends at baseball or soccer or Lacrosse, that doesn't make those kids something to belittle, it's all about choices. Since I don't play hockey the choice isn't mine to make in my household but I won't belittle people whose kids skate more than mine or those whose kids skate less than mine.

Yes the Jr. Badgers added a few kids to the team to fill open spots and those kids were from the metro and northern mn. A few kids play for the blades and the jr. badgers and they picked up 3 from the lake superior stars, so what? Its a weekend of hockey and thats it not a world championship. As far as the magicians being undefeated we all know thats a joke as they have never even played any of the top teams out there. no machine, no lake superior stars, no blades, who did they beat? they are a independent that plays a showcase level. after watching that team play and listening to their parents you would have thought they were ready to take on ussr. very funny to sit back and watch as they yelled at players and refs. they were in a constant state of complaining. i would luv to see them step up to the plate and play someone before running around telling everyone how good they are. i had a dad from there tell me before the tourny that they would walk through this and they were the number 1 ranked aaa 98 team in minnesota. lol heck our blades team would crush them and so would the machine and stars. people just relax and be happy that you finally got tested by a couple teams and your kids got a chance to play teams at there level for all the dollars you spent. heck you tied the wings and they are a good team but not great. this is summer hockey and it is about playing the best competition you can to make your player better, not about winning a championship. heck were does the trophy go, not to your house or home rink?

I now hear they are calling a congressional hearing to sort this matter out and will delay the bill for new oil drilling.

Use of other states players happen here too. The 96 Blades use about 3 Wisconsin kids. Phil Kessel played for the Blades.

There are a lot of teams who pick up players for weekends and wrongly rep. there teams/ organizations. ( 96,97 ND Sioux, 96 Wings, take a look at the LS Stars......there players shop themselves...........

Easily 3-1 on the calls against us,quite possibly the worst case of Homer ref i`ve ever seen,but then again it would have been pretty sad if the hometown team lost to a bunch of 92`s...we outplayed em,but couldn`t outplay the ref...

Oh crap the cat is out of the bag....Not only has it been exposed the AAA teams pull in players from other states, they have the refs on their side as well. Well, while we are at it and truth be told refs enter their services on e-bay with the bids closing 15 mins before game time. What do you think they are doing in the locker rooms so early prior to the game? Then, heaven forbid when there is a break to re-surface the ice between periods they go back in the locker room to check on the new bids for the following period. One way to tell the refs are on the take is to watch the team managers, the first thing they do at the end of the period is to grab their cell phones. They are not calling home to tell mom how Billy is doing. They are phoning in the bids to the refs in the locker room. It's kind of like a pro athlete; they make more money with endorsements than they do playing the game. A lot of money can be made doing AAA hockey in the off-season. Additionally, a good majority of refs doing AAA hockey do not do regular season hockey games. These guys are not regulated, the teams are not regulated. I even hear that the so called "parents' are not actually the real parents, they are flown in by the AAA teams to make them look better. Take a look at the moms in the stands; come on fur coats, big diamond rings, French manicures. They are obviously not from Minnesota, these moms are typically from California and the only thing they know about Minnesota is that it is cold - year round. They know it is cold so they grab the only coat they own and put it on.

One final note to you tomAss! Before you go spouting off about congress delaying the investigation of this matter you should do a little more digging. The fact that congress is delaying this investigation has nothing to do with oil drilling at all. These so called “AAA Hockey Moms” are the wives of the congressmen that are assigned to conduct the investigations. The last thing these congressmen need is to have this whole conspiracy exposed. These fat-cat congressmen are the root of the entire evil in this manner. Their wives get to all of their expenses paid for by the AAA hockey teams, which means all of their travel is taken care of…This is an incentive based role that these moms have. They get to travel the countryside all expenses paid. The more time they spend away at all of the extremely important tournaments, the more time the Fat Cats get with their mistresses. Oh, and all of those receipts that these moms collect to turn into the non-profit AAA organizations are photo-copied and the congressmen turn them in to the government for re-imbursement as well. So not only does “Honey” get to travel for free, free up the Fat Cat and his Gold Digger girlfriend’s time, he is collecting tax payer cash as well. They only reason congress has delayed their investigation is based on their own greed. One only needs to look at the structure of the Minnesota government itself…Think about it, the governor of Minnesota is Tim Pawlenty. So in short this delay is due to drilling but not for oil.

everybody is always throwing the soccer bone for Tom. I will say "Thanks" to whoever had the pull to get those soccer parents parking across the street on the soccer fields where they belong.

My kids like the woman they have playing me better than me, and she's a Dmom (so my husband likes her too), but we can only get her for games. They like away games better because they get the replacement mom and they don't get homered. But here they are positive they didn't get their rooms that dirty or leave baseballs and hockey pucks all over the yard or hit their brother. I've heard all about how their rooms would be clean if it weren't for the kids I let play in their rooms while they are off running around with the Congressional wives. It isn't fair that the other kids make the mess and they have to take the box time (away from the Xbox). They could be winners too if it weren't for the evil real mom (who looks horrible in stripes but it's the only way they listen).

Than when they leave for an away tournament, ahhhh the peace. Me thinks high gas prices may be worth t--even if I don't get a fur coat too)

Roll your eyes all you want. If it weren't for soccer the trophy and medal industry will be non-existant. Who do you thing owns them? Do a little research, you will see this entire AAA thing everything.
