I dont understand why good coaches arent asked back? Take Apple Valley for instance, from everything I read on here, you have a good PW A coach who took a small program and played in the toughest District in the state, had the team blowing away everybodys expectations, but yet isnt asked back to coach? What am i missing? I dont think you could short shift the bench with only 11 players. Did the parents of the 12th-15th player on the depth chart, make a stink? I guess you cant please everybody.

There's always someone that can do it better, don't you know that. It's about preception some I sure thought they did a good job and some I sure thought they needed to go. That's association hockey!

I guess the saying "one mans trash is another ones treasure" might apply here. Did this coach get asked back in any capacity(bantam, squirt, or even asst coach) with the assoc? If not Im sure he has moved on with another association the might be more fitting??????

It is my understanding that Apple Valley coach selection committee invited them back, but in mid-summer changed their mind. The new coach, however, may not be as committed in spending his time as the other two coaches were.

Note on the Minnesota Hockey employment page, Apple Valley is searching for a peewee A coaching assistance. What prompted the change is a mystery, but that is association hockey.

Mike Guentzel - Was the assistant coach of the minnesota gophers last year. Coached the woodbury pewee A team last year. Now he is the assistant coach at colorado college. I don't know of any coach in minnesota youth hockey that is a collegic hockey coach as their main job. And stats doesn't matter to me. You could put the best kids in the state on one team and win every game and that wouldn't mean anything. It would only mean something if you bettered them as hockey players and young adults(not just one but all of them). That is my opinion.

Was he a good coach at the peewee Level? I know his kids are great hockey players, I don't know if that means he is a great coach. But, its a good start.

I don't recall him being on the bench for districts. I think if he is going to be a head coach for the youth level he needs to be at the games. Not trying to rip the guy. I know he has a job that demands he be there. I think Woodbury teams have numbers and thats what brings success.
