From what I've been told, it would be just like sitting at the Met (except with a big ol' HD scoreboard).

Govs, when they payed at the Met (1965), the WS started about Oct 1 and they played only day games. They were in the playoffs in '69 and ' 70 about the same time.

Big difference in weather from the first part of the month to the last.

Same issue with the regular seaosn. They used to start in the middle of April and the Twins would open on the road and not open here until the 3rd week in April or so. Now, they start on April 1st.



So, it could be a lot diferent.

I get it - I honestly do, but personally, after spending what is essentially my entire sporting life sitting in that "ballpark" designed by the Devil himself, I don't see any way I'm going to be the least bit upset putting up with some chilly temperatures, rain (snow), and some wind early or late in the season. It'll be worth it do enjoy those other 5 months in the sun when it won't be an issue.

It was 45 degrees with a 25 MPH wind in KC for the 3 days I was there this April. We were behind the plate, and the wind was blowing in, so it would swirl up against the stadium and it probably made it even a little worse than it really was. But there was plenty of coffee... and a "bar" that had Jameson! You become like MacGyver when trying to produce and Irish Coffee in an attempt top stay warm, but I still say it's worth it, because I was outside!


My hunch is that it'll get a little old by year 2 or 3 in the new park, but then I'll just sell those tickets to my brothers.

Thats what most folks say when the issue of weather comes up and I agree. The Dome is a dump for baseball and always has been.

I just hope that after the novelty wears off they can put people in there in enough numbers in the 4 good weather months. (it aint 5 Govs, maybe 4.5).

Hogwash. Are you throwing out May or Sepember as a bad weather month? Either way I disagree.

I think I saw a note in a Charley Walters column that said the Twins were trying to get a "spring training" at the new park in March of '10... That probably wouldn't be a great idea.

I was digging around in some old box scores, and based on the attendance for some of those games, they probably should've tried to play them at night - it couldn't have been any worse! Brutal.

Baseball being played in football weather.

Its bound to happen. Baseball on Oct 27 and beyond wasnt meant to be.

Its important to hang on to traditions like 162 games etc etc but if the WS is too remain a premier sporting event, somethings gotta give.

Play 152 and have a few doubleheaders. Get the WS over with by the 15th.

Agreed, PB. It drags way too long into football season. I still think you gotta play 162, just have more 2 a days...

BTW, I have a soft spot for the Phillies in this one even though most of America is supporting the Rays. I got a pic w/ Cole Hamels and he and a few others signed my program at Wrigley in August.

I'm with you in cheering for the Phillies, just for a different reason. The Rays fans don't deserve it. Most of those people have probably never been to a game this year or any year. Philly fans actually deserve it.

Govs - Let me just say, if you did have special needs - whether you're male or female - Wrigley is a great place to be. Me and a few buddies of mine had quite the time. It's like nothing I've ever seen, and I've been to a ton of bars and college parties. The girls all wear short skirts and Cubs gear and the guys all wear Armani and drive Benz's.

ER- I've actually been a Phillies fan for a while but the Twins will always be my true team. And, yes, their fans deserve it more. The Rays will never have a true fan base, even after a nice run like this. This makes 3 times in the last 10 years a small market team from Florida - who has no real fan base - is in the World Series. The Rays would also be the first team from Florida to lose the World Series.

So when the game finally resumes in the bottom of the 6th, will they still take a 7th inning stretch?

and some places stop selling beer after a certain inning- does that still hold true?
