The Lake Overal

The Lake conference is in the top 3 of the toughest conferences in the Nation. People knock some of the bottom teams but some of the bottom teams in the lake could win other conferences. I agree that Jefferson will probably take it this year but with these teams, any team can win on any given night.

its true that the lake is still a top conference in the state, EP and Jefferson would beat most any team and even teams like chaska and AV would beat the majority of the teams in the state. However the winner of the lake is really not that important is it?
no matter what jefferson and EP will finish 1,2 either way and then its on to sections.
and on a side note the sections are very staggered in the amount of talented teams my bet is whoever wins section 2 will win state.
Ryan Oshea

The top goalie in the the state by far is Ryan O'shea from Eastview. He has a .93 save percentage, and has kept eastview in almost every game this year. Also hes a junior and is gaining more experience. He has 206 saves through 6 games this season with eastview having a 4-2 record. Look for him in the state tournament this year.

Don't be that guy to just talk about your high school buddies, with your first post being this I see where this is going. O'Shea is not a bad goalie but should not be mentioned even with the best goalies in the state yet alone the best by far. He has plenty of experience now this being his 3rd year of Varsity as well.
If you look at the numbers right now Gretz from Apple Valley is the best in the conference right now. His only games so far have been Eastview, Park, Lakeville North. I'm hoping he plays Tuesday against Jefferson to get a real feel as how he has progressed from his Freshman year to this year (Sophomore year) because Eastview is the only team that had over 20 shots against him I believe.
Alot of season left to see what goalies make there mark so far though it looks as though goaltending is down in the conference with some very high GAA for some teams early.
Ryan O'Shea

Hockeyjunkie2,
O'Shea and Gretz represented Section 3A/AA last year at the spring festival for Select 16's and both did a great job. You can't go wrong with either tender and you are right it is time for Hayes to give Gretz the hard games to see what he has. All the pub goes to Meyers, Kruger, Altrichter, Ray etc. give me these two any day.

LAKE POWER RANKINGS as of 12/18- these are my own rankings
1. Eden Prairie- 4-0, (4-0)
Hard to pick who was going to get the early spot for number both teams have had good success. EP is averaging just over 7 goals a game.
2. Jefferson- 5-0, (4-0)
They have more quality wins than EP but they don't really have the style points to show they wont lose one. I really won't be decided on who goes where with these to until they meet on Jan. 3rd.
3. Apple Valley- 4-1, (3-1)
They showed soem life in there 2nd line last game if that can continuee and the success in the net by Gretz they could be dangerous in what is a little bit of an open section.
4. Burnsville- 3-4, (3-2)
Lost 4-2 to Jefferson, beat AV, lost to Lakeville South, close with Eagan these all make Burnsville on the inconsistent side. Problems are there goalies save percentage's are not good at all sitting at .814 and .741. They also need more than 1 line doing everything for them.
5. Eastview- 4-2, (3-2)
They are close with Eagan right now. They have the edge with the better GA here. In the end if your keeping the puck out you have a better chance. The other key is the 1st line showed the life they should be all year against Chaska.
6. Eagan- 3-3, (3-3)
Lost to EP big and then Burnsville and South by a goal each. They can score but Chaska, North, and Rosemount are not exactly quailty wins at this point.
7. Lakeville South- 2-3, (2-3)
They went to OT with EV and beat Eagan and Burnsville. They lost to Chaska in the first game of the year a game I think they will win next time. Giving up 4.8 goals/game is not going to help them though.
8. Chaska- 1-5, (1-4)
Only win is against Lakevilllle South in the first game, been downhill since. 6.2 GAA and .767 save percentage not looking good if that doesnt change.
9. Lakeville North- 1-5, (0-4)
Nothing done in conference yet, Chaska and Rosemount coming up in early January will look to those to maybe get something going.
10. Kennedy- 2-4, (0-0)
Playing only half the conference schedule as everyone else. So far though have beat a 4-3 John Marshall team and an 0-7 Minneapolis team. The 4 losses though have all only been 1 goal.
11. Rosemount- 0-6, (0-4)
After a senior dominated team they have fallen off. I watched them once and was just not impressed. I hope they figure something out this year. I'm sure they will get some conference wins before the season is over but very few if they do. did just play Eastview tough maybe that is building towards something good for them.
They will change weekly. I haven't seen all teams play yet as well.
I think EP will win the Conference

Personally, I think EP will win the conference. I think EP and Jefferson will split their games and Jefferson has more of a presence to have one bad game in the LAKE and lose the title by one game. Just my thoughts as this will be close.

LAKE POWER RANKINGS as of 1/1
1. Jefferson- 9-0, (5-0)
Only team still undefeated. Big first meeting between them and Eden Prairie this Saturday.
2. Eden Prairie- 7-1, (4-0)
The only reason they are 2 is because they have the loss to Edina. I think they are very even with Jefferson you could almost call them a 1b.
3. Apple Valley- 6-3, (3-2)
They are barely hanging on here. They have played 3 fast teams and lost to all. The defense needs work on their speed and when Fischer and Warner dno't produce against quality teams they struggle like the Fargo South game. Need to stay out of the box most PIM in conference.
4. Eastview- 7-2, (4-2)
They picked up a good win against Roseville thanks to O'Shea be cause they were outplayed. The next 7 days they play Burnsville, Jefferson, and Tonka all will be good tests for this team to see where they stand.
5. Burnsville- 4-5, (3-2)
Played BSM tough, they are still so up and down this year it makes it hard to get a good feel for them. They have a 3-2 win over Eagan holding them at 5 right now.
6. Eagan- 6-4-1, (3-3)
No bad losses no big wins. They are doing what they should do I think they finish around .500 for the Conference.
7. Lakeville South- 3-4, (2-3)
They are pushin the 6 spot. They played Roseville, Eastview tough and beat Eagan and Burnsville. Bad loss to Chaska to start them off if they start to turn those close losses into wins the second half they can make a top half run.
8. Chaska- 4-6, (2-4)
Giving up to many goals, every game has been 4 or more besides 2 game. Wins are Cambridge, L. South, Greenway, and Rosemount.
9. Lakeville North- 1-9, (0-5)
Anything besides Rosemount and Kennedy wins would be upsets in the conference maybe Chaska because they give up goals.
10. Kennedy- 2-8, (0-0)
Started off 2-0 and now lost 8 straight.
11. Rosemount- 0-9, (0-5)
Last 4 games have all been 1 goal losses.
I tried getting all tournament games in there I hopefully didn't miss to many.
