Haha Yea I look forward to those guys every year. I am gonna have to agree with scoreboard33 though. I dont know of too many student sections that have steel in from of the glass like the elkaholics do.

they had a terrible section when i went up last year for the HM game. maybe 15-20 kids at most. there may have been an equal number of pioneer fans there
So what your saying is that the fans at Moorhead games are similar to those at Hill's in the sense that only 15-20, if that, go?
hill has far more than 20 fans at games. maybe you should go to more to find out. Maybe people dont appreciate the fact that with a smaller school in HM and the huge amount of activities we had with school and outside of school not everyone can go. Almost everyone at HM had a co curricular at night, whether it was a sport or not. Sorry we were more involved than you in high school but you should get off your high horse. And dont try to argue these facts with me, considering I went there and know what it is like maybe you shouldnt make up lies about hill fans sucking. We know hockey, and we love our hockey.

No one said Hill fans sucked, that they didn't know hockey, or that they weren't involved in other things. It was simply pointed out that there aren't many people in the student section at Hill games.

If they held a state tournament for cheerleaders, WBL may actually make it there & might even advance past the first round. All those "loud & rowdy" fans seemed pretty quiet the past few years when leaving the arena after playing HM. You keep focussing on what's up in the stands while HM focusses on what's on the ice. We make noise at our welcome home celebrations after playing in yet another state tournament while your gym remains quiet.

Speaking of a "dead horse", how's the Tartan hockey team?

Haha, sachishi, you're totally right. Hill has tons of fans at their games. Those games being one of the following: a WBL vs. Hill match-up, the section tournament, or your games at the X. Even when Hill played Edina for the title, the student section was incredibly small and quiet. You would think that with Hill developing such a solid hockey program, they would have an excellent fan following, instead of the fair-weathered kind. But I totally understand, Hill students are incredibly busy and have little time to make it to any games. It's a wonder, though, how all those extracurriculars seem to vanish once Sections, or a game against WBL rolls around..
As for pioneerprideguy, did you get a chance to check out the section championship? Kinda a rhetorical question, seeing as you are a HM fan, of course you made sure to come out of hiding and go to the section game. I don't think anyone in WB's section left disappointed. How could they have been? They played one of their best games of the season. Oh and likewise, if they held a state tournament for fair-weathered fans, Hill would probably take the title. Hopefully someone from Hill can come pick up the title, I mean, I wouldn't wanna conflict with any extracurriculars..

So the WBL fans have dipped down to celebrating moral victories? "Well, at least we played one of our best games tonight." I'm surprised we didn't hear that "loud & rowdy"" fan base cheering afterwards, "We're proud of out team, hey, we're proud of out team". Kinda sad a large school program has fallen so low. But hey, keep up the cheering!

The best student section would be moorhead. Even though some of the chants are a little dirty they are funny as hell

i will definitely agree that moorhead has a good student section.
edina at state last year was a huge section
hill sucks, i remember a game vs. WBL and so few hill fans showed. we found out they had finals the next day. im not ripping the fact that they have other important things to do, but that is the reason why they aren't a good student section.
WBL has a devoted following every year with large numbers and are usually loud, rowdy, and quite a few really good chants

You have to understand that was a weekend game, for some reason school nights get more fans than weekends, the one that I was at in Fargo was impressive, even though it wasnt that far away, it was still an away game.

I would have to agree with that statement. There have been some very "creative" chants started at the tourney each year.

god dont you guys just love these hill fans chirping in? i mean, these are the hill fans that dont go to games, they sit at home and get text messages from friends and post the score on this sight.
hill murray only shows up for about 7 games a year. WBL vs hill twice.3 games at the fair grounds, and maybe 1 or 2 at the X for schwanns cup. other than that. i see them gallavanting around maplewood in thier 30,000 dollar cars and doing thier "extra curriculars" as sucahsi or wutever his name is said.
hills a bunch of fairweather fans, end of story.
and by the way im so honored to be traveling to moorhead to cheer against this amazing student section i hear about. cant wait!

I would say when blaine plays centennial there is some of the best back and forth chanting between the student sections. It got so bad that tons of parents on both sides called the schools last year.

I'll give my input here, and I'll start by saying that sections 206 and 216 at the state tourney are the most entertaining and most fun to be apart of.
-Edina has pretty impressive numbers but they really don't seem to do anything creative, it's basically just Go Edina or Go Hornets etc.
-Burnsville has a pretty good section from what I've seen, and you gotta respect Elk River for creating the button(and Woodbury for stealing it).
-When it comes to the White Bear and Hill argument, it wouldn't take much to realize that White Bear has a much better student section, considering the only fans Hill had at the Burnsville game was their JV team, and even they didn't look that excited. You can blame the smaller numbers all you want but I personally know kids who went to Hill and could care less about the team, and take them for granted. You would think with the team they have, more people would support them. As for White Bear, I would say we travel as well as any school, and it's hard to go to a White Bear game, no matter where it is, and not see a respectable section.

Actually, even in the final round of the Schwann's Cup, I think there might have been almost as many fans from other schools who stuck around to watch as there were actual Hill fans.

Surprising, too. I mean, it was after all a HM vs. WB match-up. I was thinking they would wanna show up to support Captain Ugly and Mrs. Hockey.

If they're only fair weather fans why aren't they showing up to current games in throngs?

What an ignorant statement. Kids go to private schools for a thousand reasons and believe it or not for very few of them it is because of hockey. To tell a kid who wants to get a better education and still play hockey that he is not on a "true" high-school hockey team is pure ignorance they are just as much hockey players as ones at private schools. I suggest you stop whinning and worrying about how bad your team got beat last year by Hill or STA or BSM or AHA or whoever and accept the fact that the private schools have just as much a right to be on the ice as the public ones.

you tell 'em.......
Actually though...since Hill Murray and Academy of Holy Angels, and St. Thomas and Providence, and BSM and DuLuth Marshal and Lourdes High School and ....etc......are located in Minnesota and they do conduct classes at the high school level, they sure look like Minnesota high schools to me. So if they happen to have a hockey team made up of boys that attend classes they would be a Minnesota high school hockey team. Not that I like it but......Batman does need his Joker right??

Sounds like a whole lot of excuses to me. I've been in the HM student section recently, as in last year and the year before, and its pathetic. The only creative thing I've seen out of them was the giant picture of Ryan Furne at sections last year.
