After seeing another poor starting performance by Patrick Moore against Forest Lake, i don't know why Wes Bolin would even consider starting him in any of the remaining games of the season. He leaves to many rebounds out in front of the net and cant seem to stop any Break aways. Does any one else on this thread see the same thing? Will this solidify Ness as their number one goalie and will Wes Bolin go to a #1 starting goalie. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

SECBLUES, I agree. There's probably some reason that Moore was never on an "A" team growing up, and Ness was pretty much every year...

what is the deal with woodbury lately? a tie and a loss to forest lake, the only 2 non losses in conference play for the rangers.

For one thing, it's called facing a good goalie in Paul Moberg at Forest Lake.

You can't possibly use that as an excuse when he only has 2 wins in conference. He is a solid goaltender, but the other teams in the SEC seem to find a way to beat him.

That was a good try with erasing that reply because you probably figured out that Forest Lake has beaten Woodbury and Mounds View. :D

They beat Mounds View in a non-conference Christmas Tournament game. Forest Lake is 1-7-1 in conference action.

They played well last night. Stillwater was on the attack until late in the first after Woodbury scored, I think a minute or so left in the period. It was a good game back and forth for most of the night.

Woodbury just had a 2-0 win against hastings but only 1-0 without the empty net

They also did this skating shorthanded for all but 4:00 minutes of the second period. The refs targeted Gaede in the first and kept him down for the majority of the game. The penalties were, in the words of the Hastings announcer, "too numerous to mention." Hastings played pretty well but couldn't beat the balance of Woodbury even with assistance from the refs.

I see Woodbury had Patrick Moore back in the nets in their 5-4 win over Mounds View Thursday night (Feb. 5th).

was not impressed with woodbury against a struggling Mounds View team.... Woodbury was ahead 3-0 after the 1st and then MV scored 2 Goals right away in the second, and then MV tied it up in the 3rd 3-3 and then woodbury went ahead again 4-3 and MV answered right back to tie... they scored with 1:14 left in the game... not very impressed with such a high ranked team.

Where's Ness? Sorry but a ranked team shouldn't be giving up that many goals to low ranked teams

Basically anything can happen in rivalry games.

With Woodbury's 3-2 victory over Cretin Thursday night, the Royals clinched at least a tie for the S.E.C. title. Two conference titles in a row for a team that was basically a nobody until Wes Bolin took over the coaching at Woodbury.

S.E.C. standings through Feb. 13th

Woodbury (12-1-1)
White Bear Lake (10-3-1)
Cretin (10-3-1)
Roseville (9-4-1)
Stillwater (5-7-3)
Forest Lake (4-9-1)
Hastings (3-8-2)
Mounds View (3-10-1)
Park (1-12-1)

Ah, excuse me. One of the fastest growing suburbs, and youth hockey associations, in the metro over the last 10 years. So fast they're getting split into two schools. Likely the end of a nice little run at the high school level. Don't get me wrong, I've heard Bolin is good, but giant honking suburb helps.

I'll guarantee it that the previous coach couldn't have won as many games as Bolin has. Also, Woodbury only loses four seniors off this team and at the most only four sophomores who will end up at Eastridge next season.

They'll continue as a strong team.

Growth has slowed down since Bolin got to Woodbury. In the late 90s, it was the fastest growing community in America, so why couldn't Bill Moore (who also was a very good coach) do what Bolin has done?

Having Bill Moore followed by Wes Bolin Woodbury is fortunate to have and had guys like this. The program is in a differnt maturity level today then it was when Moore coached there. Moore was energetic and enthusiastic to a growing hockey community and Bolin is doing a great job there right now.
