umm isn't this Squirt Hockey you guys are arguing about??? SQUIRT HOCKEY!!!! Squirt hockey is a wonderful time for hockey, skill development, competition. I approve of AAA Hockey. But, how about starting at Pee Wee level. Driving to St Louis is a 10 hour plus drive. Thats a long way to go for Squirt Hockey. Great family time during the ride. But where are our priorities?

Anyone know anything about the referring???
Are you referring to the refereeing?
I would venture to say it was probably pretty typical of Squirt hockey
Seems odd that you would ask that question.......

meaning that the refs favor one team over another???
Talk to anybody who played the Blues last weekend. Let's not act like there isn't any biased referring going on.

And this pertains to the Fire/STMA game how?
By asking this in this
OLD forum you're insinuating that there was poor refereeing?

itsmorefun wrote:Im confused when people comment that the Fire teams are "hand picked" and have the "best kids." I've had experience at most levels of the Fire and they "rarely" hand pick the best players from the respective associations... mostly the kids who show up to tryouts make the team... and mostly it turns out to be parents who are looking for something different - not necessarily that their child was the best in their association -sometimes yes... but very often thats not the case. There are very few who get turned away.
What makes the Fire successful is the number of ice hours they are able to offer to their families and the level of competition the kids play... They DEVELOP players more often because they have more ice time to do it... so YES... over time, they will TURN OUT to be your better players. You'd be surprised at how many of your best high school hockey players, who can really play the game well, played for the Fire at some point. Somebody check last years high school hockey state tournament and the kids who scored the most points... you'd be surprised at how many played for the Fire...
Yes, I'm sure the 1998 2nd year squirt players from the Fire are penciled in for their letter of Intents....I hope that wasn't the recruiting line that snagged you.[/quote]

STMA is currently 18-4-3

Quit ripping on this team, let the parents pay all the money they do, let them travel all over the country and play and spend more money, then watch as there talent slowly stops progressing and other players grow into there own. then watch how all the talent evens out..
THEY ARE ONLY 10 YEARS OLD!! BET THEY HAVE SCOUTS THERE WATCHING ALREADY.

I wasn't ripping on anybody. Someone wanted to know STMA's Scores. So I looked and its all on their website. They don't hide their scores like some do...
Also noticed that the WI Fire happened to not put that particular score on their website like all the other games they played....Wonder why?

Don't kid yourself, scouts do not pay attention until they are Bantams or High school.

Was it the '98 Fire that were up at Roseau for the Squirt A tourney this past weekend and lost in the championship to the Grand Forks Blues 2-1? I read about it in the Grand Forks Herald this morning.

Sarcasm or not, I don't think we should talk about mites or squirts. Things change so fast at those levels. I can't believe that we even bring those topics up!!

This IS a "Youth Hockey Forum" and, like it or not, Mites and Squirts do qualify under that category.
