AFP, we are in agreement on Donkey Kong. LOVE IT! I'll stick Space Invaders in there over Super Mario. Tetris makes my list too.

I find a lot less humour in our lists than some of the other attempts. The thread is entitled "All-time".

2008 Section Semifinals at the DECC. LUMBERJACKS VS HOUNDS. Sold out place, awesome atmosphere, and the underdogs win in dramatic fashion. 6-5 jacks.

On a very sketchy penalty, especially with 30 seconds left.

THIS. It's far and away the best and most exciting hockey game I've ever seen, and up there with any other sports moment of my 18+ years. That was a really special game, and a great atmosphere. Everyone was just waiting for AV to fall apart and ruin the upset, but they just kept playing well and held on.

We're you there? I head Cloquet fans saying the exact same thing.

1977 North Dakota State Championship between Grand Forks Central and Grand Forks Red River. 9 overtimes and the game was called a tie and the teams shared the championship.

I was there. It was a terrible call. But let's not get the Cloquet diehards on the "bored" angry. They have enough to be upset about this season as it is.

Fair enough, i suppose a 6-1 spanking was good redemption, but not for the seniors.

I'd have to say pacman is overrated but thats my opinion... How about the 2006 St. Thomas win over Hermantown in OT in the (A) semi-final

What about last years ND state championship, the winner had 6 men on ice and the refs missed it?

that was one of the best performances i've ever seen by a defenceman, single-handedly defeating the Cadets

I'd think East-AV in 96 would be #1 on most lists.
I'll take a slightly different tack on this one, though, and list the 5 best I have been in attendance to see, personally. There is a bit of a theme with them.
1. Duluth East 3, Cloquet 2 (2OT), 2005 7AA section final. Not a bad introduction to high school hockey playoffs.
2. Cloquet 6, Duluth East 5, 2008 7AA semifinal. What a game...but wow, does it still hurt.
3. Duluth East 1, Cloquet 1, Feb. 2007 @Cloquet. Two of the best individual goalie performances you will ever see. East's inability to beat a Tyler Johnson-less Jacks team probably sealed their fate that year.
4. Duluth East 2, Cloquet 1 (OT), Feb. 2006 @DECC. Another great Ellingson-Leis goalie duel. Ryland Nelson scores the game winner, and that's about all I rembered, as I then ended up at the bottom of a pile of people.
5. Duluth East 3, WBL 2, 2005 State Tournament Quarterfinal. Keegan Flaherty scores the game winner to upset WBL and keep their curse alive.

The best game I ever attended in person was the Section 2 final at the Coliseum the year Columbia Heights beat Cloquet for their only trip to state. Double overtime, and their was no conservative play during the overtimes. I didn't have a rooting interest in either team and I was drained after that one. I can only imagine what the fans of the two teams must have felt like.

Not to side track things, but where is Dano Jacques playing this year?

Iceburg I was also at the game and the coliseum was packed and loud. One of the greatest game to watch, didn't care who won. I believe that the winning goal was a shorthanded one. You should also include their next game against Edina also. Another was the Southwest/Edina overtime game for the championship(do not remember the year), and yes the Duluth East/Apple Valley game.
To be very honest there have been a lot of great games depending on the year and who you might have been rooting for or against and to those who have been fortunate to play or have a son or daughter playing or coaching in the State tournament or sections, those would be their greatest games!!!

In the '05 section final, wasn't the game winning goal scored by someone who got his 1st varsity goal?...

Indeed it was...Kyle Michela's (sp?) first and only varsity goal.

Edina vs EP Section playoffs 1997. 5 (I think) OT edina victory, I was only nine so I don't remember the score, but it was incredible!
