LF 5 Brd 3 Pretty good game, the floaters were a little flat out the gate but played better as the game went on. The shots were 53-20 in favor of LF. LF got scoring from everyone which was nice to see. 2 defensman and a 3rd liner scored while big ben still had a goal and assist along with hirsch.

The officiating at the end of the game was awful

I don't know if its Brainerds new head coaches style but they are chippy and cheap, I know if I was a bantam or peewee in there youth program I would be lookin else where to go play, nothin to be excited about playin that way

I was at the game last night and LF took their fair share of cheap shots to. I thought the refs were fine. Yeah they missed some calls but they kept a good flow to the game IMO. Very entertaining game.

Indian head, you must be one of the knobs who like archibald. Have fun with him, taking a good program and sending it straight to the canadian minors. the kid that left for Duluth made a good move

I agree through the first two periods it may have been one of the better officiated games I've seen all year but at the end, both teams got chippy and the LF players were the only ones going to the box.

I agree he is going to turn a solid program into nothing. Everything the old coach did is just going to be erased. The strength of schedule, being right in the thick of it in there respective section, and the development of D1 players. Like I said earlier if I was in the brainerd youth program I would be looking to get the heck outta brainerd.

The fact is that Brainerd does not have the talent or depth this year and they are going to struggle. There has been a change at the helm, and that takes time to adjust to. I was at the game last night and was not at all pleased with the way the game deteriorated as it went along. Had the refs called a few coincidentals early, it may not have gone that route. Although LF was clearly the better team, and Brainerd tried to take them out of their game with the physical play.
It is not the new coaches fault that the talent pool in Brainerd has been depleted with transfers, injuries, and suspensions. The coach is however responsible for the style of play and the character of his team. The amount and type of penalties (cross check, check from behind) needs to be addressed and as a supporter of the Brainerd Hockey, I hope it is soon!
But the current situation certainly does not warrant advising Brainerd Youth players to leave town. This group has struggled all the way up with the lack of leadership from the 2nd year players. (This years Seniors).
Let's all take a deep breath and see how this plays out.

So if your coach decides to work on the power play against the bottom teams, you will not get to many opportunities.
Even if it was a 10 minute, your still are not helping your team in the box!

Only 191 minutes, I would have thought that number would be higher.

Ahh the voice of reason as always. I was just making the point that it takes two to tango and Little Falls was right in there with the Warriors. If you look closley there are only a few players that have the bulk of the minutes for Brainerd. I know for a fact the player's former Pee Wee and Bantam coaches would cringe to watch this style of hockey. In fact they coached the complete opposite. With that said it's hard for some players to adapt to that style it's just not their game and I think this is affecting success to some extent. By the way Slow Feet Guy I still have some left in that Windsor bottle from many moons ago.

I'm not saying that Coach Archibald is the best coach around by any means, but saying that he will completely undo everything the previous coach has done is just being ignorant. Coach Eigner did a lot for the program, but he would never have gotten them to the next level. He was part of the problem, but not the biggest problem with that.

The biggest problem with Brainerd hockey is the lack of coaches teaching the game at the youth level. The HS coach can do things to make his team better, however, the fact of the matter is the good teams throughout the state are all taught how to play the game the RIGHT way at the youth level. This is not happening in Brainerd, if you watch a Warrior game you will see that they do not understand how to play the game. It's true that this season they are down on talent from what they have had the previous seasons but not having the talent can be overcome by knowing how to play the game. If any of you have ever coached at the HS level you would know that once a kid reaches the HS level it is VERY difficult to teach them the correct way to play the game when they have been playing it incorrectly their entire lives. Brainerd has not played the game the right way in years which is why they have rarely had success in the playoffs.

As for last nights game...

It was chippy to say the least. I liked the refs letting them play to some extent. It was close to getting out of hand and their were some suspect penalties called, and some suspect non-calls BOTH WAYS. The first period was very exciting hockey, very evenly played with both teams dominating at times. After that... LF dominated, plain and simple. If it wasn't for Reid Mimmack standing on his head it could've very easily been an 8-3 game(The save he made on Hanowski's breakaway... WOW). And one other point... I feel sorry for Bren Smith, and Josh Archibald having to have breakaways on a goalie who has practice stopping a guy with the moves of Hanowski.
