This game will depend on how good AJ Underwood is playing. If he's hot in this game, DE wins 2-1. If he has an off game, East cruises to a 6-1 win. I don't think GR is ready to beat East yet. One thing is for sure, Rapids will after this game know what it is going to take in 7AA.

Agreed. Rapids does not have a bunch of goal scorers - getting a few here and there - and will most likely struggle against East's fine D corps. If Underwood is on his A game, he will keep it close.

I've liked what I've seen of Welinski. He had a chance to step up when Forbort was gone over the holidays and has contributed well since that time. He'll be called on to play a much greater role next season with what they're losing to graduation and even more so if Derek leaves after this season.

I was just naming the top scorers from rapids this year... Klieny is a very solid D player who makes plays happen, and can put on a good hard hit. Howe is a pretty good player as well. he has a good vision on the ice and just seems to be in the right spot at the right time. As for Merrit, size isnt everything. He has some stick skills, but does not play the puck. he still has more to learn for next year.
>One player i have been impressed with these past couple games is number 15, Zack Dick. His performance has been improving a ton, and is fun to watch.

I don't know, I think if Rapids corrects a couple of mistakes they made tonight, they should give East a run for there money. It was a pretty entertaining game. Hibbing looked ok they had a couple of good rushes but they just couldn't put the puck in the net.

i agree. If rapids plays like they did against hibbing last night, the score of the game will be pretty close and a very entertaining one as well.

Kleinendorst is a good player who unfortunately consistently takes himself out of position trying to make the big hit, How is doing well for a first year incoming player, Merritt is a strong defensive, defensmen who plays position well. Dick's performance is improving as it should be with all the ice time he logs.
I hope the coaching staff realizes quickly that they need to play more than 3 D, and 2 1/2 lines to even compete with a team like East.

I'm Sure Bruce knows what he is doing. If you have to play 2 1/2 lines to win a game then so be it. not sure on the 3D though??? I thought I saw more then 3 different d out there, but I might of been wrong.

Underwood was fantastic against Hibbing and will need to be even better against the Hounds. Should be a fun and exciting game but I got Tardy and company.

I thought the whole team was fantastic against the jackets. Underwood will have to be on his toes due to some weak defensive plays by Rapids, But I think they will overcome that!!!

Rapids has a decent chance if a few things happen. Underwood plays his best game of the season and a couple of the D-corp focus more on taking care of things in their own end and not getting caught up ice, allowing odd-man rushes. If this doesn't happen, it could be running time by the third. Let Rendle handle the offensive load. There's no question he's one of the better offensively skilled defenseman in the state.

That is kind of what I meant. Rendle sometimes causes those odd man rushes when he tries to develop a play up front. Don't get me wrong he is the catalyst, but they need to adjust right away when he does bring the puck up.

Looking at GR point totals. Are those this years or career. Hard to think Rendle has that many points this year.

The GRHS website has both this year and career. Rendle has 23pts not including Hibbing game in which I think he had 2 or 3.

Do any of the D-core like to play D?

I think the forwards typically react fairly well when Rendle does his thing. It's two of the other D who scare me a bit more. They tend to take too many chances at bad times.

Hmmm, let me guess - Kleinendorst and Dick?

There's a few that seem to stay in the offensive zone for two long, hence the numerous amount of odd man rushes for the other team. It seems as if the couple that play DEFENSE aren't seeing as much ice time.
