How'd the game go? As even as it looked?

I hate to break it to some of you people, but you can't judge every game by the team's won-loss record. Moorhead played Centennial pretty tough and outshot them 39-33.

As I posted on karl(east) thread on 2/1 rankings. These two teams always play each other close. Last year it was 6-5 Spuds. The year before was 3-2 Spuds. A few years ago they tied at the Schwan's Cup. (Spuds won in shootout). And Centennial won 1-0 in the State Championship game in 2004. I wish I knew the scores of any other games in between. But these ones show they alway have a close game.

Centinnial 4 Spuds 4 OT

It was a great game. Number 9 from the cats played a great game and had some many chances to score but was robbed by the Moorhead Goalie or missed the net. The Game had a lot of phyical play but the boys controlled there emotions pretty well . At one time it looked like they were going to to put 3 cats and 1 spud int the PB but it was only 2 cats. 3 cats were all lined up to go in the box on their own. We even saw Centenial ice it a couple of times out of desperation to get a line change, how often do you see a #2 team do that? We sat by some Centennial parents, they said this was their only road trip. How different Hockey it around the state. As Spud fan we would love to have had a win, but this game was a great game for the players. The last three games have be great displays of hard work. After a disappointing loss to TRF the Spuds have bounced back to an early season level of good intense hockey. My hat is off to all of these young Men. We are all so proud of you!
Go Spuds!!!

I always get a chuckle when a Twin Cities team is outplayed by Moorhead, and then says the long bus ride made them tired. I don't ever remember Moorhead using that excuse after the many games they play down there year after year. The last time I checked, it is the same distance going south on I-94 as it is going north.

That doesn't change the fact that Centennial just tied a mediocre team...

Congrats to the spuds and I'll eat my hat on my earlier prediction. Wish I could have seen this game.

I was at the game and IF Cent. would have burried the puck as many times as they should of, it really could have been a blow out. In the beginning of the third period I said "I think Cent should have 5 more goals" BUT, they didn't. Moorhead made that happen, they cleared the rebounds and didn't let them get many second chances. Moorhead outshot Cent because Cent missed the net I don't know how many times and the sad part was, they were open nets!! The 2nd Moorhead goal was beautiful though, he waited and waited went all the way around the goalie, let the goalie make his move and shot it right in the upper corner right over his shoulder. The Moorhead kid was almost on the side of the net.
If we go by better scoring chances Cent. for sure had more. There was one play where 2 Cent kids came down the ice and had a two on one and the kid passed it over and the other Cent. kid COMPLETELY missed the WIDE open net. (I think it was 11 from Cent. and I think he did that twice) I am not a fan of either team so I don't really care but, I really don't think Cent. had their best game. I have seen Cent play before and they didn't really look like the same team. But, I am for sure not going to say it was the long bus drive because Moorhead does it all the time, etc. It happens, it is high school hockey. Just because you don't ALWAYS play your best hockey doesn't mean you are not a good team. Everyone has on off night.

And "If the dog hadn't stopped to take a dump, he woulda caught the rabbit" ! Woulda, coulda, shoulda - Taters led in shots 39-33. Both missed good opportunities.

What he should have said is "Moorhead should have blown out Centennial if Spuds had buried more of their 39 shots."

Sounds like it was a good game both ways. I heard Moorehead scored with one second left

That was my message - good to see someone got it.

If Moorhead wouldnt have missed the 50 open netters they had in there 8 game losing stretch, they would be 16-0-2 and we would be asking if they could win it all this year.
