Ha, yeah right. If STA wins tonight........

1 LF
2 STA
3 Warroad
4 Cathedral

Breck isn't deserving of a top 4 until STA loses tonight.

If STA wins tonight:

1. STA on virtue of their schedule and they had the toughest section to get through
2. LF Based on the record....Only
3. Breck Who else in this bunch is 2-0 against teams in this years AA State Tourney....Nobody
4. Warroad They lost to SCC but have played a tougher schedule and a slightly better record
5. SCC Not enough offense, But team nobody wants as the 1st round draw
6. Virginia Darkhorse or Deadhorse?
7. Lourdes Playing better as of late
8. 3A The team everyone wants in first round! 0-2 and back to the farm!

If the boys in those cute little uniforms lose tonight;

1. LF
2. Breck
3. Warroad
4. SCC
5. Mahtomedi - These guys will be confident. Watch out.
6. Virginina
7. Lourdes
8. 3A JV

Prediction: Provided STA makes it, LF will not make it past the second round and prove all the soft schedule skeptics right. They have not played 3 elite teams all year, let alone in a row.

My view is the winner will be one of these teams. STA, Breck or Warroad

I am fully aware that this is how the seedings could fall...but your logic is poor.

First, SCC averages over 5 goals a game...offense doesn't need to be A+ when the defense is...but their offense is definitely adequate.

Second, Warroad's schedule may be a hair better than SCC, maybe up for debate I don't know...but look at common opponents and you'll see the numbers favor Cathedral.

Third, I find it odd that you'll allow Warroad a slip up against SCC, but you won't allow SCC a slip up against Rochester Lourdes. Imagine you eliminate those two games, SCC's only loss is an OVERTIME loss to UNDEFEATED Little Falls.

Fourth, since the Cathedral/Warroad game, neither team has done anything drastically wrong. That is, Cathedral has not lost since DECEMBER 13th and Warroad only has one loss since the Cathedral game, an OT loss to Moorhead.

So, I understand that Warroad is an amazing team. I just don't get your logic for pumping Warroad ahead of Cathedral. I think both SCC and Warroad should be seeded right behind STA and Little Falls...assuming the Academy wins tonight...

Class A Seeding

Realistic
1. STA
2.LF
3.Breck
4.SCC

Dream Scenario
1.LF
2.STA
3.Breck
4.SCC

I would rather someone other then LF to have to deal with Warroad as they are a great team and could be seeded themselves. I would love to see STA vs Warroad quarterfinal game.....can you say barn burner!?

I dont know how the seeds will work out. This is the first year I remember since they started doing things like this that the four top teams were this hard to pick. It is reasonable that Warroad could get the 3rd, 4th, or not seeded at all and the seeds would still make sense. Warroad shot themselves in the foot by losing to Morehead, a team they should've beat. This is how my dream tourny woud turn out for Warroad. They play SCC in the semis to avenge the earlier loss to them in January. Then in the finals they play Little Falls. This would only be fun to watch because Chris Sylvester moved to Warroad from Little Falls this year. That would be dramatic!! But I'm not sure if things could turn out this way. I imagine that SCC with get the third seed and Little Falls the second. I can dream tho

I expect something like this.

1. STA (assuming they win tonight)
2. LF
3. Warroad
4. SCC

Kinda a toss up between warroad, scc, and breck. Breck played a pretty weak conference and section schedule, but they beat duluth east.

If STA loses tonight, I think it'd look like this.

1. LF
2. Warroad
3. SCC
4. Breck

The way this Class A tournament is shaping up, the rankings don't really matter in some cases as there are 5-6 teams that are capable to win the whole thing. I wouldn't want to play Virginia or Warroad in the first round. Whomever gets 3A or 1A in the first round gets off easier.

1. STA
2. LF
3. SCC
4. Breck
5. Warroad
6. Virginia

What's your reasoning?

After reading the posts since my lost post, I have two comments/questions:

1. Last night proved that simply winning a bunch of games don't prove you're the best. Despite seeing that happen, Little Falls is still being crowned by a lot of people. If they are being crowned for their soft schedule, why is Breck being disrespected for theirs? Breck's soft schedule is their conference; their non-conference games are quite good. Their only three losses are by 1 to a AA team, and by two teams who are in the 4A section final.

If it's okay for Little Falls to do well with their soft schedule, then why not Breck?

2. Why do we play games? To see who wins, right? Cathedral was the top seed in 5A because they beat Hermantown during the regular season, despite many thinking Hermantown "was the better team."
STA beat Breck. Little Falls beat Cathedral who beat Warroad.
Lourdes beat Cathedral but lost to STA and Breck.
Only top team Warroad's played is Cathedral, who they lost to.
They aren't an exact science, but common opponents is how I got my seedings.

Why can we simply excuse the results of games?

Agreed that SCC and Warroad are pretty much interchangeable. They had similar schedules and records. And no question that SCC has outstanding D. I just don't see ranking either team above LF, STA or Breck as LF is undeafeated (for another week) and STA and Breck have proven that they can play with and beat proven quality teams. Not saying SCC and Warroad can't, they just haven't played anyone the caliber of STA, Breck, Wayzata, Cretin, East, Morrhead, Minnetonka, etc... to prove that they are deserving of a top 3 spot.

Should Mahtomedi be seeded?

A section quarterfinal win over SSP, section final win over STA, regular season ties with Maple Grove and STA, wins over Red Wing, Breck and Hill Murray.

Even if they aren't seeded, they, Virginia and Lourdes will all be tough first round match ups.

I don't think Mahtomedi should be seeded. They still have sixx lossses on the year. Who ever draws them though better be ready to play

HShockeywatcher wrote:Upsets are possible, I will be the first to admit, but if I were a betting man, I would put my money on Breck, Little Falls, St Cloud Cathedral, St Thomas Academy and Warroad all winning out and making it to state. In the event this happens one of them will not be seeded...who will it be?

This would be a tough one to decide. St Thomas beat Breck. Little Falls beat Cathedral in OT who beat Warroad. Looks to me like Warroad or Breck, but I would hate to have to pick. The only game of the remaining games for these 5 teams I see one of them not winning is possibly the SCC/DM to conclude the season. If that happens, SCC maybe be the odd man out.
I guess we don't have to worry about it now, huh???????

Here is how I got it now that STA lost tonight.

#1 Little Falls
#2 Breck
#3 St. Cloud Catholics
#4 Warroad

Although the Zephs have a pretty good argument for a seed.
