I just talked to a very good source. As of 15 minutes ago they were still trying to push for playing tonight as there is not much time left and a number of games for both teams. The AD's were on a conferance call and I should hear in a few minutes. If the previous posts info came from the result of the conferance call that is accurate but I will confirm very shortly. The game had been rescheduled for Wednesday but they were still trying to switch back to tonight. A couple of Fridays ago there were many games played on the night of a school cancelation due to improved conditions. Things look pretty good outside right now.

Karl, since you throw your flavor into WBL threads, let me add my nickel's worth of opinion.

Granted, when WBL shut out Cloquet early in the year, it was early, but East was so solid against my Bears, I agree with the post that said this game will get to "running time"..

It's called a rivalry. Anything can happen when these two teams play.

Yea I kinda had a feeling it would be fairly close It very well could of been 6+ goals for East but CEC goalie played amazing with 50 SOG I guess its a win and they will take it goodjob hounds... =D>

50-15.. wow. I listened to it on the radio for a while, and from the sound of it, he did indeed play quite well. 46 saves is good any day, especially against East this year.

Normally I'd be a bit upset with a narrow win considering the shot margin and how much East dominated in this one, but not tonight. There are no style points in East-Cloquet.

Congrats to the Hounds for winning in the Lumberdome, something they never did while I was there. I don't have the info with me, but I believe this also the first time in quite a while East has swept the season series. Was 99 the last time? I'll check later.

East has also matched its win total from last year, which is a good sign, and the #1 seed in 7AA is completely and entirely locked up now. When was the last time a team ran the table in the 7AA regular season?

You forgot East's third win over Cloquet that season, which happened in the 7AA finals at tDECC. 4-1 for the Hounds in that one.

Life was good. Image

Elk River might have something to say about that.

Although I was disapointed that Meyer played in place of Schendel, East completely dominated the game and Forbort got a good chunk of time at forward. Felt Mellin played good for his first game back and Cooper played decent, he was screened on at least 1 goal I believe. Had a flashback to the X when Welinski niped it 5 hole from the point. Tardy had a nice top cheddar goal too. Overall solid rivalry game, Cloquet did not bring baseball bats this time, and it was a fun game, albeit very choppy as the Cloquet kids had a tendency to flip it over the 2 ft high boards and it went into the netting around 60 pct.of the SOG. I hope we play Franny, then Elk, then Rapids/Cloquet, in that order, in the playoffs.East is playing fairly hot right now, got too keep it up.

I think I can speak for a few that East would rather play the elks than cloquet in the playoffs too go to state

Personally, I want to see them draw Cloquet in the first round.

A playoff slaughter, coupled with these two regular season wins, might add up to sufficient revenge for last year in my mind.

There are 2 section games left, but I think we can turn our attention to seeding a bit now. Here's how I'd do it as of today (section records in parenthesis):

1. East (7-0)
2. Elk River (6-1) lost to DE
3. Grand Rapids (3-2-1) lost to ER, DE, tied CEC
4. Andover (2-3-1) lost to GR, ER, DE, tied FL
5. Forest Lake (2-3-1) lost to GR, ER, DE, tied Andover
-I give Andover the bump for better overall record and for being, IMO, a better team.
6. St. Francis (1-1) Lost to Cambridge
7. Cambridge-Isanti (2-3) lost to Princeton twice, FL
8. Cloquet (0-5-2) tied GR, Anoka
9. Princeton (2-1) wins over C-I, loss to STF
10. Anoka (0-6-1) tied CEC

wow 7AA looks terrible East and ER stand out of the bunch as of records with 7AA matchups

Cloquet

If I was East I would not want to draw Cloquet in the playoffs no matter what round it may be. If somehow East can avoid running into Cloquet in the playoffs they'll walk to the X laughing. In my opinion the only team in the section that could pull off the huge upset over East is Cloquet, and that happening would be a miracle and fueled solely on the intensity of the rivalry. As a Cloquet fan this is the first year I want East to succeed and if Cloquet doesn't go to state Im rooting for the Duluth East Greyhounds to win State! Its time for 7AA to bring the blue medals home for the first time since 1998. (That is of course unless Cloquet doesn't go which I hope they can pull it off :) .....)
As referring to the 99'-00' team being the last team to run the table in 7AA; it was also the year before Cloquet beat East for the first time in 7 years dating back to 93'-94' (not sure if this year is correct?) in 00'-01'. I want to know what East's record against Cloquet from 00'-01' to 08'-09' (now) is? And what East's record against the rest of 7AA from 00'-01' to 08'-09' is?... If im not mistaken a lot of those years East's only section 7AA loss/es were to C-E-C. It's just a point to make, how well Esse has done against East.
Also, I have heard from multiple sources that Forbort and Esse are related?? Is this true? And if so does anyone out there know how their relationship is with each other??[/b]

Ugly game

Had 31 whistles in the first period alone. Cloquet played total defense, and iced the puck when pushed too hard. A long game, filled with whistles - what's the call when a D flips the puck over the boards? I always thought it was delay of game.

Even if Cloquet makes it past GR or ER, they'll never beat East. Too many horses in the East squad - 4 different players scored - just not enough in the Cloquet squad.

It is what it is.

I think there is going to be a battle with Section 1 for strength of section! :P
