EDIT
And yes, this game is at the NHC.

Apollo and Cathedral use the MAC?
Yes that is right.

I was just thinking why do they play the next round at NHC?
Tech just won there yesterday. Another home game?

They could use MAC, Bernicks, and Alexandria. Someplace neutral?
IMO, Alexandria and Bernicks are two horrible venues to watch a game. Bowl style, or at least seating on both sides, is necessary. The MAC wouldn't be a bad location, but there is the potential for three other semifinal games there on Saturday.

If Cathedral and Sauk Rapids both win Thursday, the section 5A semifinal will be played at the MAC (unless something drastically changes). Additionally, Alex/Sartell and Little Falls/Fergus will be played there, all on Saturday.

The semis used to be played at the high seed in this section (I remember watching Tech/Alex at the MAC). Although it's probably unfair to have Tech on their home ice, it's equally unfair to have Buffalo drive 5 hours potentially twice.

With the geography of the section makes it so that it's unfair no matter how you look at it. The way it is now is the only way to make it work, IMO.

Bernick doesn't have enough seating.

They should play it at the John Glas in Bemidji.

130 miles for Roso, 150 miles for St Cloud.

if they did that they should make roso sit in the bus and drive some laps around the arena. Just to make it fair :D

Yes, they could do that, but the trip is about the same in time as St Cloud has freeway for 60 miles and then fairly easy drive.
Roso has no easy drive to anywhere (maybe Warroad).

But the important thing is MY drive will be easy.

And really, when it comes down to it, that's all that matters.

Bernicks is a crappy arena, thank god it's not there.
The only time The NHC has an sense of home ice is when St. Cloud State plays there. Last time there was any "atmosphere" at all was when Small Falls brought a few thousand of their own. It will be neutral enough for a Tech game.

yea. it is pretty lifeless in there. Tech kids must not care much about hockey these days. Its not a good venue for a hs hockey teams home rink. The smaller rinks that get full have more atmosphere than a big empty bowl.

HasNoBrains strikes again with another idiotic prediction.

The game was a very good high school game. Tech played nearly error-free the first period before Roseau began desperately pressing and a couple of penalties in the third cost Tech the game -- allowing Roseau to tie it. The Rams never led in this game and tied it only toward the end.

I'll take Moorhead in the section final to beat Roseau and advance to state.
