Here are the proper State seeding, if politics don't get involved. We know the love of Edina with MYFOXHockey.

EP #1 seed. Lost to Edina by a one goal margin. but were #1 in their Sections.
Edina #2 seed. Still were the 2nd seed behind Jefferson
East #3 seed.
Blaine/Cennt the #4 seed.

Bottom line who gets Mayo in the 1st round.
Correction: EP lost to Edina TWICE by a one goal margin. Just because they were the #1 seed in their section doesn't mean they should be a #1 seed over a team from a different section. By that line of thinking, there are a lot of teams that should be seeded higher than Edina, including Moorhead.

#1 Edina
#2 EP
#3 East
#4 Blaine/Centennial

Bottom Line: Edina & EP will most likely be 1/2, so they'll be on opposite sides of the bracket. And if both were fortunate to win their quarterfinal against what could be a quality opponent since it's a random draw, they will be facing a quality opponent in the semifinal.

Exactly. Edina/EP will go 1/2. Lee Smith was even quoted saying it in the Star Trib this morning. You'd think with Edina's 2-0 record against EP that they'll get the #1 seed.

East should go #3 and the winner of Blaine/Centennial will get the #4 seed.

Either way, it all comes down to who plays their best come tourney time.

I'll throw this out there: If Hill wins tonight (which they will) I think they should be the most feared unseeded team. They're a couple players short of being a 1 seed, and are the defending state champions. That says a lot. Let's not over look them, they snuck up on a lot of people last year too. We'll see what happens...

I would definitely put Moorhead along with Hill-Murray as the top tier of teams that you wouldn't want to play first round.

Bottom line: You'll have to win 3 games no matter who you play to take the title. You have to beat good teams to win it.

CDH is playing very well right now. Don't overlook them as a potential for a first round upset. I don't think they can win it all, but they could win one!

the first two are a lock in my mind:
1. Edina
2. EP
3.DE/Blaine/Centenial
4.De/Blaine/Centenial
the last two are a toss up.

I agree looks pretty good. Those last 2 could go either way. East is really playing well they dominated their section games so maybe that gets them the 3 regardless I'm not sure coaches will vote for who they want to try and match-up with in the semi's but I think those will be the 4 section winners seeded regardless.

I will be very upset if Edina is seeded number 2. Why?

1) Two prior victories over EP would seem to make it clear, but more importantly...
2) Coming in from out-of-town, I can't get to St. Paul by 11am. 11 friggin AM! What's up with that? Why can't the number 2 seed get one of the evening games?

So when are the brackets getting released? Saturday or Sunday?

Hill may get a top 4 seed if they win tonight, after all they are the defending champs!

Hil won't get seeded because of their nine losses, but I agree that they could be a dangerous matchup for one of the top four. I don't think they are consistent enough to be a title threat, but they, loke Cretin, could be an upset waiting to happen.

The original subject of this thread was to post state match ups when they're official, which won't be until Sunday. Sticking to the topic...meh.

Since people are posting their top lists:
1. Edina
2. Eden Prairie
3. Centennial/Blaine
4. East

Hill will be the worst first round match up.

Don't want to burst your bubble. East's path is easier than Blaine, Centennial, Eden Prairie and Edina. They are a good team. But, do not deserve the 3 spot.

Hondemon wrote:I figured this out last night after my Spuds one. I had it figured that 3 sections were locks to be seeded...Section2, 5, and 6 . This left Moorhead's only shot was if Elk River upset Duluth East.

Unfortunately that means....

1)Edina
2)Eden Prairie
3)Blaine
4)Duluth East.

Here's hoping we don't draw Edina....yikes!
I hate it when I'm right.... Part of me really wanted to avoid Edina in the first round....part of me is happy we get another shot at them.

Go Spuds!

Blaine vs Rochester Century
Edina vs Moorhead
Duluth East vs CDH

Lets hear it
