Mark, thanks for the list for Section 8.
I am a little surprised that Henry Gutierrez from EGF is not on there. Did he refuse?

I dont have the information aat ahnd for each player.
If he has a spring sport that is possible. A lot of players have travel, college things, or sports that conflict. Some just say no.
Usually they list them as an alternate.
If you want I can find out and let you know if it is not 'classified'.

I thought this tournament was for uncommitted seniors who are looking to continue their hockey career after high school, to get exposure. Fallen from Armstrong has committed to Air Force.

I'm pretty sure that the uncommitted part is only for the Chicago Showcase, anyone can play in the Great 8...as long as they're good enough.

Must be a strong team, if they can't find room for a Cole Peterson (Lourdes)
Has anyone ever attended this event? Just wondering how heavily it is scouted and by who?
Who looks like the strongest team? My guess is 5A/5AA

It is scouted by everyone. Every year there are 1-2 kids that get D1 commitments out of it.
Great 8 Section 1A/1AA Goalies

looking at the Big Nine Conference Boys Hockey Website, I see that Jordan Yaggys season stats are 2.953 GAA and .893 save%, and Eric Wobschalls season stats are 3.213 GAA and .868 save%, and these are the two goalies for this section in the Great 8, and yet Adam Trautman from Mankato West who has season stats of 2.760 GAA and a save% of .896 has been picked as the goalie alternate for this section behind these two, what a joke, what a screw, tell me again how this thing is not political and not about who you are and where you are from, who is picking this crap anyway, also Yaggy and Cam Sellnow (GAA 2.880 and .897 save%) are picked as Big Nine All-Conference as Goalies and Trautman gets Big Nine All-Conference Honorable Mention as Goalie behind these two, like I said what a joke, not political at all, some of these guys ought to be ashamed of themselves whoever picked this, if goal scorers are put on the team because of their stats should not the goalies be picked that way also ???

Totally agree, Yaggy should be there, Wobschall not so much. Several deserving players are usually left off including Trautman

I don't know about the selection process for the G8 and if they have a tryout or if decisions are made based upon how players did in the winter. Will good players get left out? Yes. Just like life.
Big 9 all-conference is based on a vote of the coaches. The coaches probably have a good idea of the opposing team's schedule strength and also which opposing players were a threat to their team whether that is a scoring threat, a stone walling goalie or a D-man you just can't beat. Not everything is going to be based on stats. If every scholarship or other selection was due to stats, nobody would need scouts and would only use the internet.
