Pretty good list elliot70 from the north. I would exect Cloquet to do pretty well this season with a high count of 2nd year kids returning. Chuck has them in a good preseason spot.

Wayzata will not crack the top five this year. Depending on how many kids stay and play for Edina, they should do well this year.

3 Woodbury
4 Eden Prairie
5 Eagan
6 Lakeville South
7 Duluth East MOVE TO #5
8 Apple Valley
9 Grand Rapids
10 Maple Grove
11 Cloquet
12 Minnetonka
13 Roseau MOVE TO #10
14 Elk River
15 White Bear Lake

19 Lakeville North
20 Coon Rapids
EAST GRAND FORKS MOVE TO #13
GRAND RAPIDS MOVE TO #15
CLOQUET MOVE TO #16
MOORHEAD WOULD BE IN TOP 25
THE REST MAYBE HIGHEST WOULD BE #30 TO 35.
BEMIDJI MAYBE #42-44.
OF COURSE THIS IS PRESEASON WITHOUT TEAM EVEN BEING PICKED.
PERSONALLY, OF COURSE, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE 5 OR 6 NORTHERN TEAMS IN THE TOP 10.
AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ROGERS, INTL FALLS AND SOME ST PAUL TEAM UP THERE ALSO.

CLOQUET COULD BE A NICE SURPRISE.
NOT JUST UP NORTH BUT ACROSS THE WHOLE STATE.

great lists, except the top ten in the north. if little falls doesn't move a bunch of their second years up to varsity they will over take brainerd pretty easily

I think they will lose at least one.
At least that is what my preseason guess is all about.

grand rapids should be in the top ten for sure and so should cloquet they both have a bunch of second years and both went to state in peewees and as i remember i think they both BEAT east rapids won to go to state

Looking back at Hockey Rankings. com for the North teams 2 years ago as second year Pee Wee's . Grand Rapids easily won their section and went to state. East Grand went to state , Cloquett went to state as did Little Falls. I believe Little Falls went to state in back to back years as Pee Wees.
These 4 teams should be solid as 2nd year Bantams from the North.

Edina was a mystery last year; they had plenty of talent. Maybe they will be able to pull it together this year.

Great list...
What about Centennial?
Burnsville (#17) should be a contender and AV #8 is weaker after last years talent "bubble", Chaksa (#16) be higher (or is there a split there?) and at #4, EP is a little overrated (EP is in a decline... not one boys youth team got out of districts last season) #18 Jefferson has goalie talent- that might help. With Edina and Wayzata's numbers and proven coaches, they should be at the top.

i could definitely see edina winning this year. they have 7 returning players and they won the peewee "A" state tournament two years ago.

I do not think Coon Rapids will break the top 20. Maybe the top 30.

BL5 - Remember the Christmas Show Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer??
1 - Threir A Bantam coach from 2 years ago is now the JV coach at SLP and his kid opened enrolled there and is playing Varsity
2 - Head SLP coach lives in CR and has kids playing youth hockey. Has had dozens of CR kids play for SLPHS
3 - Current parent of A Bantam is now JV coach at Blaine. This is the same guy that coached A Bantams at CR before number 1 listed above and oh yah, currently has a kid playing Varsity at Blaine
4 - Last year Bantam coach still has a kid playing, but is not coming back to coach?????
Welcome to The Land of the Misfit Toys
It would be nice to see someone other than the usually Bantam teams on top of D10, but these kids will need to look out for the Abominable Snowmonster, because he will be lurking somewhere in the stands!!!!!

Wow! I read the forum all the time and I know there are issues but come on!!! This is truly a sad state of affairs and sounds like this city has issues that hopefully do not trickle down on their players. I hope the kids have a fun season and successful season despite what the adults are doing to destroy it. Its always fun to root for the underdog and it sounds like Coon Rapids is the 09/10 dog for the Bantam level this year.

Couple of reasons why I don't think the top 20 is possible for CR : Size- inevitably is a key factor when the game becomes physical, Selfishness- couple of returning players obviously cannot comprehend that this is a team sport. I hope the new Coach has a solution to this as this has been going on ever since these kids started playing together unfortunately, former coaches did not penetrate this issue. As for you Maxsnatch the Abominable Snowmonster(s) may be lurking somewhere in the stands, but do recall how this story ends. The Abominable Snowmonster is defeated by what you call "misfits".......Good Luck
P.S. Comments to Max's statements:
1- The Coach 2 years ago pulled his son from CR Association due to the fact the Varsity coach at that time resigned in August and left the High School in limbo not knowing who would be coaching which caused him to make a move
2- This is correct except for "dozens". The players that left besides his older son were just mediocre players and would struggle to make CR Varsity
3- 100% correct! The fact he transferred his older son is because of the lower end talent he would be playing with at CR at his age level and obviously, not to mention the talent at Blaine High school playing with his elementary and JH friends (don't blame him)
4- That is also correct, not coming back

They may be "solid", but a lot of changes can happen in 2 years. Rapids and DE should be very good, Cloquet, EGF and LF I wouldn't put any $ on them. Tough to leave out Roseau when you talk about North teams. Sounds like Elliott has the right outlook to start the season.

Response to BL5's response to MS:
Simply yank your kid and be gone. None of these kids are making a career of it so let the kids have fun. Don't blame the kid, no one does, just a product of his environment. Drop the puck and hold on for the ride, its going to be a fun one.
