winvil is a homer... Windom-#3?? ok eisenmenger is decent. but no goaltending to speak of, short bench, they just arent that good. 6 is a good spot for them.
I agree with bodangles... its a toss up 1-5. hutch and new ulm definitely favorites. worthington in front of luverne this year. luverne is way down. lost everything. paquette dinger olson

Well you can look at the 3a goaltending stats here
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gB9z7bAoSf8/S ... lass+A.PNG pretty much a tossup in the section for goaltenders... don't know who new ulms goalie is going to be this year. Windom is going to have a strong two lines this year. Windom lost to hutch last year the same score New Ulm lost to Hutch in the playoffs. I wouldn't doubt Windom, being they have a lot of returning talent and a few talented newcomers to the team. Be interesting to see New Ulm, Litchfield, Hutch, and Windom at the Scrimage at the end of the month.

A quick check of the mshsl website shows some rosters posted. Good signs for both Sleepy Eye & Fairmont: SE with 19 skaters & 2 goalies and Fairmont with 23 skaters & 4 goalies with not one freshman on either squad. Much better situation for both schools than a couple of years ago.

New Ulms goalie is a stud. One of if not the best around, he could and most likely will play juniors just like his older brother. His name is Blake Burgau. Windom is returning twelve skaters to varsity i believe.. including two eisenmengers and johnson who will make up most of their scoring. Their stats are padded as they play one of the easiest schedules in the state in front of SE and fairmont. as to a close loss to hutch, kudos.. you still lost. also lost to worthington last year. so if you are going to compare your loss to hutch to new ulms why dont you put worthington in the same class as hutch too then? hmm.
Marshall is returning 16 varsity skaters and both varsity goalies, who are pretty good.
New Ulm is always gonna bring it.
Hutch returns their goalie and forwards hantge, grinna, and bahne along with the rest of what is a strong program.
Litch returns 13 varsity skaters, only three of which had double digits in goals last year, and their goalie.
Redwood will be solid.
I put windom around with Litch and in front of W/RL/B, Luverne and so on..
5th or 6th
Tough years for luverne and worthington, i think they will be pretty down this year.

1-4. Hutch, New Ulm, Marshall, redwood... toss up.. anybody could take it.
5-6. Litch, Windom-close to top four.... not quite.
7.Worthington
8.Fairmont
9. Luverne
10. Sleepy Eye
i wouldnt be shocked to see sleepy eye and fairmont get 5 wins this year.. possibly surpass luverne????? not predicting it, just saying i wouldnt be surprised if it were to happen.

I will wait a few games before I predict the Sec. I do think Hutch, Litch, and New Ulm will be in the top three

There is a scrimmage next Saturday in Hutch between the three teams. We're going to have to see how things play out. I think NU will take it. They're junior class is full of studs. I also heard some sophmores in the mix?

sregit34 are you on some kind of pills to say new ulms goalie is a stud he's good but he's no stud. the hutch goalie is a stud, he was a big reason how they got to state last year.

I think the Hutch goalie is pretty good, but i also that NU's goalie will put up some solid numbers this year

Thought the New Ulm Goalie Wiggins graduated?

Wiggins did graduate and he was not much to speak of in my opinion.. Many would agree that Burgau is much better and went a long way in selects this summer. Also a stud for elite 2s

He is good. I would say cowger bengston were bigger factors..

I did hear burgau had a nice elite 2 season. Were going to have to see how this scrimmage turns out this weekend. That will give some people an idea of whose going to be better

It'll be interesting to see if the weakest section in the state can perform well again this season in Saint Paul. Does anyone think New Ulm can actually win it for once without choking it away?
Posted: Thu Nov 26, 2009 3:39 pm

Like they say every year. NU should win it but they choke every year. This is probably one of the better years for them to go.

NU will choke... Redwood is the obvious choice.

I heard Redwood has a decent squad this year, but I cant see them doing anything special! Sleeper team?

Redwood will be pretty good this year, not real flashy but they get the job done. I heard the scrimage at Hutch this weekend that Hutch looked better than New Ulm and Litch is this true?

yeah. does anyone have any information on the schrimmages this weekend. redwood beat sibley 4-3 and lost to St. paul academy 3-2. this weekend. marshall beat austin 5-2 on saturday.

New Ulm looked the best then next is Litch. Hutch wasn't even close to the caliber of either of them. Hutch couldn't overpower Windom. Windom seamed to keep the puck on Hutch's side for the majority of their scrimmage.
