A sense of humor is one thing. Laughing at a feeble attempt in very poor taste? Don't encourage him.

feeble?

No offense intended. Jesus would be a heck of a hockey player, not only because he can be on the pond year round, but, as a Jew, he can light the lamp eight days in a row.

I have to agree with a couple of posts here. First of all, there has to be a seperation from the elite and the rest. The league has become watered down. Yes we know where and who the strong teams are and who is fielding them. We know who the coaches that can actually coach are and as far as that goes, any coach worth his salt in AAA will alaways be looking for new talent and adding to his or her team. Yes I believe everyone should get a chance to play in the off season leagues but let's be clear. A player develops by there own will and for the love of the game. They do not just get better from being on a "AAA" team. They need sound coaching, alot of ice, and a true desire to be on the ice. So all that said I have an anouncement to make, I am starting a new AAA club called the.............. Just kidding!! I think I had a coule of ya there for a second. I will end this by saying I think that any parent who has a real idea of there kids potential and talent know where to look. The more opportunities for kids to play the better. BETTER ON THE ICE THEN SOMEWHERE ELSE! I think you will see a lot new things this year between the independents and Showcase. Hopefully for the better.

In reality, what is our goal with not only hockey but youth sports in general?? Are we out to create future NHL athletes? Are we there to use the game of hockey to show how it represents many skill sets that can be applied to life? Is it for the social context for kids, for parents?

For myself after coaching at the association level and AAA for about 9 years, I truly see the value in the AAA program. As was mentioned, the ability to not have the two years of separation between kids on the same team, different maturities etc... makes coaching very effective. Our particular "club" strives for skill development and opted for a 1.5-2:1 practice:game ratio this past summer. Ideal from the skills development perspective, maybe not, but people have summer lives too. Other sports to play, kids need to be kids, etc...

The AAA program has opened the eyes of many due to the competitive nature of the tournaments that you can travel to. That is an awesome feature... The practices and friendships we as parents and the players develop are all just as important.

Truly though, we're missing the boat if we claim anything but learning more about a great sport that we all love and trying to instill the work ethic it takes to play at a higher level....

It was freaky, I thought I was being exorcised from this thread.
(Once I sobered up and realized it was not English.)

No, just you bad boys arguing on this (somewhat) 'holey' site.
