Just saw North St. Paul again. Although it was only against Irondale, I'd be very concerned if I drew them in the first round. They passed the puck extemely well and seem to be playing with confidence. However, they once again took two very bad penalties, both of them were retaliations.

Did the retaliation penalties come from NSP's top players?

Looking at the games where they have played well against ranked teams (Hill, St. Thomas, South St. Paul, and Mahtomedi), NSP has had very few penalties.

If they plan to do well in sections, NSP will need to play smart and stay out of the penalty box.

East Ridge is going to pull off four upsets in 4A and then finish 2nd in the State Tournament. Just like Rosemount did in 1992 while playing in the Tier 2 Tournament.

Laugh if you want, however, Hastings could pull off an upset in 3AA.

I agree. If anyone's going to beat a top 4 team in 3AA, it's Hastings. They were much better against East last night than they have been the past few years.

Not saying it will happen, but they've got a better chance than a number of the other likely 5-seeds out there.

Sec. Shocker (Why)
1A - New Prague (Coach)
2A - Mound (Goalie)
3A - Marshall (LOFT in the top 4 seeds)
4A - South St. Paul (Goalie)
5A - Proctor (Toughness)
6A - Little Falls (Coach)
7A - Central (No Tomorrow)
8A - East Grand Forks (They have come a long way from their horrible start and games are played in their barn!)

1AA - Lakeville North (Rivalry with South)
2AA - Burnsville (Coach)
3AA - Apple Valley (Last years close loss)
4AA - Stillwater (God are they due!)
5AA - Maple Grove (Over Confidence by the others)
6AA - BSM (Coach)
7AA - Grand Rapids (Coach and battle tested. Played in a lot of tight games)
8AA - Brainerd (Pure anger after getting shafted in the seeding)

7A could be very interesting

Virginia-Top team and has most experience, picked to go.

Falls- Has its chances, when this team plays they are good

Hibbing- Getting hott as of late, beat virginia and played well against hermantown

Marshall- who knows, win it all or might lose first round

Central- like what was said earlier, playing for the last season and will put it all on the line, that first game with marshall should be interesting

I'd like to see Detroit Lakes out of 6a.
8AA is primed to put their 4th team in the State tournement. Moorhead and Roseau have dominated, they are down. Alexandria did it one year, they followed the parade to class A. Brainerd could win it this year.

Bendilde is just the right team to ride a hot goalie all the way to the state tourney.so is hopkins.
Tonka getting beat in sections by Wayzata or EP will not be a huge upset.

Really anyone in section 1a Lourdes, Faribault, New Prague, Red Wing, Mankato West, Albert Lea and Northfield all have a legit shot at making a run. Should be fun!

I'd say either Hibbing or the Falls in section 7a, it is going to be a really exciting playoffs.

Agreed. Slight upset, but not anything out of the ordinary. If I had to bet money on a gauranteed team to win a section I would definitely not put my money on Tonka.
