These MV boys have worked very hard to get here. With not having Bradley almost the entire year and still finding a way to win some big games shows that they have talent. With great goaltending and tight defense, anything can happen. The longer MV sticks around the better chance they have. If they get the first goal I think they could win. Remember what got you to this point and believe in yourselves...Any team can win on any given night, thats why they play the game.

Funny thing is he's attacking another HM fan, if Sachi wasn't only lurking in the background waiting to pounce on other posters maybe he'd know that.

not really attacking him at all. just giving the usual response a publicker would give if a kid didnt play for his hometown and went to a private.

Imissmyhockey, you are definetly right that its why they play the game, but do you really think a team of HM's caliber with lay a goose egg on the mustangs? I mean Culver is solid, but he is no Douglas from the early 2000's. They would need a shut out to beat HM because Hill's defense is so deep and so solid that they won't be beat individually by any MV player. I say good luck to the stangs, and may God have mercy on their souls.

I stuck around for the first 2 periods of the Tartan v. MV game. Sorry I missed the third. MV goalie got some pretty solid defensive play. Occassional bone head high school defensive mistakes. I couldn't believe the lack of back checking by MV. Tartan broke out so easy it was amazing. After 2 periods no causal observer would have guessed that outcome. Hats off to the Mustang team for the come back. I also thought MV looked like a pretty even team. A couple of great grinders. No stand outs just solid hockey players. Seems to be working. Love to see the upset.

Fair enough!
Even as a publick skool kid, I still try to shy way from accusations of recruiting. I've never talked to anyone from the HM team who had been recruited or any nonsense like that.
Sure, I've talked to a few that will admit that they had planned to go to HM after middle school because of their dominant hockey program, but I it's safe to say that all the other positive factors of private schools were a big factor too. Many of the people I know over there went pretty much because they went to a catholic middle/elementary school.
The atmosphere of a private schools not for me, but people DO attend them for reasons other than hockey.
This rants over, hopefully we can keep recruiting accusations to a minimum this year.

Pray with me PPG!

Okay..... Let's please let the recruitment verbal wars end.
I am living proof. I went to a private Catholic school from 7th-grade on, for the education, and discipline, AND sports. I am not even Catholic. I was recruited to go a public school my senior year to get better college exposure for baseball, but declined. Direct contact with the coach. Came to my house.
I had my options as to where to go for HS. H-M, CDH or St. Agnes, and because I am not the brightest knife at a soup eating contest, I had to tape some of my recruiting visits, so I could try and remember each visit to make the best choice.
The following video is my H-M recruitment tape, and as to why I eventually went to St. Agnes. I still wish I had my hat from back then......

I am the first to admit that I have had too much chlorine in the gene pool; that if you gave me a penny for my thoughts, you would get change back; and I am proof that evolution CAN go backwards.
Recruitment happens - anywhere. No need for us to be alarmed by it.
What we need to be alarmed by, is that I spend wayyyyy too much time on this forum to the point I had HONESTLY had a nightmare last night that MV beat H-M in OT 4-3.....

You had me for almost two full sentences. Then that word came out and I had to stop reading the rest.

Come on GFD, you went to a private for the uniforms because the giranimals just didn't cut it.

..... Other than being voted "Most Humorous", I was also voted "Shiniest Shoes" award. It also didn't hurt that the movie
The Exorcist came out in 1973, and my catholic school years were '76-'81. I think my mom felt that I was just THAT much closer to ...............
I also remember having difficulties about an entrance exam into a public school. Another sign I was a few fries short of a Happy Meal was that, I was confused about the fact I didn't realize that when they said "Your in!", the night before I was to look at the public school, I stayed up all night to study for a 'urine' test.

You make great points my friend. Hills defense is one of the best in the state and they have a solid tendy back there in Tim. If they could get a PP early, it could be great to get a few scoring chances to boost the confidence. While MV doesn't have the depth of a Hill, they do have some solid players at D and forward. In Bradley's 2nd game back, I feel that he will have his legs under him a little bit better and could be someone that Hill will have to keep an eye on. No doubt, these MV kids will have to have the game of their lives to win. But hey, USA did it to beat the russians....it can happen to anyone

North St. Paul impressed me in the games I saw them play against Hill, is NSP a young team that will get better the next cpl years?
To answer DotaDangler's question about NSP. Unfortunately the answer is no. This team has 12 seniors. They have 3 very good players coming back - McCarver (16 goals), Hinz & Kelly (12 goals each), but that's it. They lose Joe Rubbelke and his 52 points and a very good senior goalie Peter Toy. Also as long as Jerry Diebel is the coach they will be something of an undisciplined mess.

Gotta love The Exorcist shoutout...I live 2 blocks from the house and stairs in that movie...
As for the game, Hill by 4.

Hill should have little difficulty, but in a one game loser go home game, you never know. Hill 5 MV 2.

I don't see either team being put on running time. MV has been competitve with decent teams all year & Hill only seems to blow out bottom feeders & MV isn't that type of team.
Since Hill starts almost every game slow, I could see the score being tight after 1 (1-0) HM. MV goes into the locker room thinking, "these guys aren't that good...we can play with them". The game opens up a little more & HM leads 3-1 after 2. In the 3rd, HM scores midway thru pushing the lead to 4-1. The building starts to fill for the 2nd game and MV scores with about 5 mins left and the non-Pioneer fans gets behind MV. The Pioneers scramble a little but hang on to win 4-2.
At this stage, I'll take any score that has Hill-Murray with 1 more than the opposition.

Seriously??? HA!!!! Is it occupied or just a landmark?? That's funny...
Figures it would be in D.C.
Earlier, I said Culver would have to have the game of his life. I just don't see it happening tonite, with no fault on his own.. he won't get the help needed.
I can't believe, at this point, the voting is only 58% for H-M... Mustangs have a lot of wasted support, eh, PPG??
H-M 6- MV 1

The house is occupied. The stairway is just part of a public sidewalk, though. Fastest way to get to the nearest subway stop if you don't mind the steps.
As for the poll, I suspect most people are voting with their hearts instead of their brains...though personally I'd love to see another WBL-Hill section final.

H-M up with 6 min left in period 2, 2-0.
