What about all those families in White Bear Lake that apply for open enrollment to get try to get their kids into Mahtomedi. Are they bad people too?
It's funny that's it's such a bad thing when parents who are paying their taxes to the public schools choose to take their son/daughter away, making there more money in the schools, they are looked down on.
But when a parent wants to take their son/daughter and have them open enroll in a different district, not only using their money, but making their less available per student, that is all right.
Pioneerprideguy wrote:Why hasn't the high school league ever tweaked the Transfer Rule to include, "If a player leaves their youth hockey association to play for a different high school, that player will have to sit out 1 yr"? Is it because their is no direct correlation between youth assocations and high school??
I would think that would be true. They are two totally different entities.
Oh great. Now we got HSHW joining PPG and stpaul. Can't you guys ever stay on topic. The man asked a simple question, and many people were providing the answers. Then you three (Larry, Curly, and Mo) go off topic and turn this into another Public vs Private and Open Enrollment issue.

All I know is that I was the winning bidder of a coonskin cap off Ebay last week.....
I will trade you one
white bear rug for your coonskin cap and funny tobacco.

If you have the model that, when you enter the room, it has the built-in sensor that starts whistling to the tune of a WBL line change, then we may be able to strike up a deal. You know the one??? The Bear version of the Big Mouth Billy Bass?? However, I don't want a Bear rug that has injured hind paws...
and anyway, to stay on topic, Body, are you aware of any kids off WBL bantams going to H-M next year?

Stillwater boys are the top 3 scorers for Hill
Tim Shaughnessy(Stillwater) obviously the starting goalie
Andy Faust and Ben Bahe... Two other very good players from Stillwater

Also, just a note, the roster I posted is just what high school they would attend based on their residency, keep in mind that a number of kids may have waived and played at other districts, played privately, or something else.

20 of these 21 kids live within 15 miles of HM, most within 10. I thought we were recruiting star hockey players from all over the state and the metro. Our scout out in Wayzata should be fired.
These are the same towns where all of our kids come from. How is that possible?

WOW! Could of handed the 4AA title to Stillwater.

Doubtful since none of these guys would have played for Housely.
I think Faust was at their summer camp

Now just imagine the kids that wouldn't be playing high school hockey for Stillwater had these kids decided to play there. By choosing to play for HM, allowed other to experience playing High School hockey at Stillwater. I think some players/parents owe these families a big Thank You.

Is this after or before they apologize to their former teammates for stabbing them in the back. And as for players like Casto why wouldnt he want to play for Housley? He was one of the best defensemen of all time. I think he could teach Casto a thing or two.
And don't forget Jordan Johnson lives in Afton, he would also be enrolled in Stillwater. I think JJ did it the right way though, I think he played in the Stillwater association only one or two years and was home schooled before Hill-Murray.

The Faust brothers' dad, Scott, played on the 1983 HM State Champs. These boys were never going to go to Stillwater.

Gophs16, when they put you in charge of the Stillwater Youth program, you can require all coaches and kids to sign a loyalty oath to Stillwater High School. In the mean time, you're just whining. In the many years reading this board I have never heard the White Bear boosters piss and moan like the Stillwater folks do.

That's why most Pioneers have a certain amount of respect for WBL (don't like em, but respect em). That certainly is not the case when it comes to Stillwater.
