New Arena at White Bear

HM - WBL
I am very surprised that WBL would not play it's home game against HM at Aldrich. Aldrich holds 3,000 and is full or nearly full for this annual game. Vadnais apparently has room for only about 1,000. Why would they turn away 2,000 paying customers? It must be desperation to stop the 13 game losing streak. Perhaps they plan happy gas or a crooked skate sharpener in the visitors locker room.

Why would expect a school to basically give up its home game and let their big rival have home ice advantage? Aldrich is no longer White Bear's home arena.stpaul wrote:I am very surprised that WBL would not play it's home game against HM at Aldrich. Because Aldrich charges $1400 or more a night, and the school gets none of this or the concessions revenue.stpaul wrote:I am very surprised that WBL would not play it's home game against HM at Aldrich. Who needs a booth, when the coach builds his house on the lake and invites the WBL boys over for sun and fun!Pioneerprideguy wrote:Given the status of both programs, we no longer need the booth...they just keep coming to us.WB6162 wrote:Sounds like a nice rink. Will there be an interview room for the Hill coaches to screen potential players from the WB Roster?

2,000 more tickets sold at Aldrich tickets x $6/ticket= $12,000= poor public school math.
Only public school administrators could make a decision like this.

Sometimes I cannot believe how negative all of you guys can be. Mid-life crisis anyone?
Can we move past the seating and questionable choices that were made in design? The building is already up and running, they aren't going to tear it down because a collection of ornery hockey dads don't like the layout.
Let's focus on the fact that tonight begins a new tradition of hockey in White Bear, we've got our own building, our own home ice. I personally believe that it will make he hockey experience even better for all players and fans.
Tonight it's gonna be loud, it's gonna be packed, and it's gonna be downright glorious.

You obviously don't read very well ESPG. What part of my comment don't you understand? "and the school gets none of this or the concessions revenue."
My public and private education taught me this. When it costs you $1400 or more to play two games at Aldrich (JV and Varsity) and you make no revenue on ticket sales or concessions, your net cost is $1400 or more. If you only pay $200/hour for Vadnais ice and need to reserve 4 hours, then this costs you $800. I am not sure how the ticket sales or concession proceeds are distributed at Vadnais, but even if the school gets nothing, they are still $600 ahead of where they would be by playing at Aldrich.
Now go back to running your lemonade stand and let the Public School administators run the school budget and athletics.
