My kids all went to private school. The one thing that we saw, and you cant argue it, is that the kids that leave their origingal schools, also leave behind the kids/friends they grew up with. Yes....they make new friends, but at the cost of the old ones. Kind of sad when you think about it. And all for hockey.

What if they stay in the public school and make new friends in high school "because of hockey". Is that also "kind of sad".

Stpaul, I’m not here to play games and make a play on words. 99% of the people reading this stuff know what I am talking about. I was guilty of it also and am not afraid to admit it.

The cost of friendship amongst the kids as well as the parents is not worth it. 20 years from know, no one will care!

Play hockey, have fun, keep your friends…..simple as that.

If a friendship dies because a kid attends a private school then I would say the friendship wasn't that strong to begin with. The same thing happens when kids go on to college...kids lose touch with a large number of friends and develop new ones. The strong friendships will always be there, no matter where one decides to go to school.
