Kevin Kurtt, editor of Let's Play Hockey, here. I just wanted to offer those that are interested/qualifed an opportunity to be a ranker for Minnesota youth hockey within the pages of LPH. Are you a youth hockey coach, assistant coach, team manager or devout follower of youth hockey around the state who can lend a hand?

Here are the details of the "job." Each Monday evening, I would send you a compilation of all the youth hockey scores that I receive from over the weekend. Using that info, as well as your expertise at your chosen level of youth hockey, you would email me your rankings by noon on Wednesday.

Our rankers are anonymous. If you want to become a ranker, send a note to editor@letsplayhockey.com.

The team I am waiting to watch is the second Bantam A team from East Grand Forks, EGF Eagles. The EGF VFW team is the A1 and Eagles are the A2.

The decison was made to play 2 A teams this year as the probable group of players to make the Eagles had no competition up here as Pee Wee Bs two years ago and finished 3rd at the state B tournament. Are they top 20 or a threat to win state, probably not, but I do see them in the top 50 and as high as top 40 if they play to their potential and they will be much more challenged this winter. Locally they will still do well and I will go out on a limb and predict a 3rd place finish in the district behind Roseau and EGF VFW and quite possibly a trip to regions.

I really like the decision to move these kids up this year and possibly next year too.

And before anybody says it, I do not have a player eligible for any bantam team, I do not have a bantam age player, I just like that the program is putting it on the line and challenging the kids.

Kudos to EGF...there are many city teams that should have 2 Bantam A teams.

Bantam A is a perfect age to have as many kids playing at as high of a level as a program can. I agree more should follow.

If you have three A teams at each Association no need for AAA winter.

Agree. Edina should certainly do it next year when the really large and strong group will be Bantams (should have done it last year in PW with the two B1 teams playing each other in State finals and the A winning State).

sometimes these top 9th graders opt to not tryout for bantams, in this case the player did. So if playing high school it won't be until Nov 18th. Until then bantam A baby

As it is with each team only playing a couple of games and it being early lots will change. However, here is what we got.

1 Burnsville - top line is outstanding and goaltending is very good
2 Wayzata - Seriously two 6'1 goalies?
3 Elk River - Showed they are competing with the best
4 Roseau - have yet to hear from them
5 Edina - Showed their stregth and weaknesses
6 Eden Prairie - put good scores up and has a ton of team speed
7 Woodbury - Beat burnsvile, lost to Elk River... a solid team no doubt
8 Osseo Maple Grove - large team, with a few finishers
9 East Grand Forks -
10 Mpls Park -
11 Cloquet - did i see this right lost to Jefferson?
12 Blaine - right now like them to grab 2 spot in d10
13 Duluth East - not the huge team of last year, will struggle at the start
14 Centennial - did not score and giving up lots of goals... not a strong showing
15 Stillwater - took down Edina, then dropped to East and Centennial
16 White Bear Lake - will improve even with orange helmets
17 Mounds View -
18 Andover -
19 St Cloud -
20 Jefferson
