I think that Edina Squirts should have two A (not A1 and A2) teams. Right now their A team is undefeated and crunching most of their opponents. The B teams are similar. Frankly the kids from both levels can a play a bad game and still win against almost all of their opponents. That isn't the way it should be, and does a disservice to both the Edina kids and their opponents.
Nobody should be proud of a situation where they have their teams beating their opponents by at least 5 goals in the majority of their games. I shows a lack of proper talent assessment and distribution.

They are not developing any of their kids as well as they could by stacking one team.
You get better playing your big brother, not your little sister. The competition will simply catch them and some will pass.
With the youth factory that Edina is, you would think there would be a few current NHL studs out there........... Nope!

actually , they aren't stacking any teams, unlike some others towns. Their B teams are very even in talent.
Last year the B teams were also strong, but the A team this year has benefitted from getting back some of their kids that were playing AAA rather than town hockey.
Expecting all of this to translate into NHL talent is a stretch. NHL'ers are a different breed, and extremely rare. They can be nurtured, but not created, IMO, no matter what the clinics/programs/camps say.

agreed, the "NHL" prospects are not only the uniquely gifted individuals, but also the ones that work harder than every one else.
If I had to guess who the '00 is that has the advantage at this point is a goalie... and he's not from Edina.

Yes, a different breed. A different breed than what Edina and the Made are creating.

I've talked to to coaches and parents from other teams in the area such as Wayzata and Minnetonka. Their kids go to the exact same off season programs, and often play on the same teams, as the Edina kids. Why single them out?
