I am a bit surprised (who outside the Eagan faithful isn't?), but I definitely thought it was within the realm of possibility--I don't even think it's the most shocking result tonight, during which we had 6 games in the entire state (Hastings over Flake wins that award).
It says a lot about Eagan, who will go scooting back up in the rankings despite that loss to Lakeville North. They're legit.
It also raises more questions about EP, who looked like the top team in the state a week ago. Hangover from the Edina game, perhaps? The tough tests don't end here, so they have to get it together. It just goes to show the parity in AA this year--Wayzata is a slight step ahead of the field, and my Hounds, though not seriously tested yet, are making some statements, but there seem to be another 10 teams or so that can beat anyone on any given night.
I got there after the 1st. Eden Prairie hit the pipe in both the 2nd and 3rd and also had a disallowed goal in the 2nd; looked like the EP player was in the crease? The better team definitely won in my opinion though.
Eagan has a very good transition game in both directions and was quite good on defense, but I wasn't impress with their offense.
Eden Prairie was very good with the puck in Eagan's end. It really seemed as though these kids have been playing together for years; many passes on each possession as players were moving, seemed to know where their teammates would be.
I would not be surprised to see these two playing at the X in March.

Not sure I buy Wayzata being a step ahead. I watched them play Valley and they had some bright offensive moments, but they are no where the great passing team that EP is - (my opinion of course and just one game of 8 I know). With their heavy schedule I'd be surprised if they had fewer than 4 losses come March. For that matter, I think that most of the Lake teams will have a few losses to each other as they continue to slug this thing out.

I think too much is being put on the Eagan loss to LVN, they simply ran into a very hot goalie, Eagan dominated the game and outshot LVN 60 -20 roughly and to his credit, Lindgren kept them in the game...Eagan is clearly the better team.

Agreed. I currently have Roseville at #18. I can't take Tonka, Blaine or White Bear Lake out of the top 15. And until Bemidji or Tech trip up, they will keep ground at #16 & #17.
Side bar...I've been having a hard time finding at 20th place team as of late and I nearly put Hastings there after last nights 5-1 victory in Forest Lake. They've taken a few hits from Eastview (3-2) and Mounds View (2-1ot), but they nearly knocked off WBL (2-1). And those teams are better than people give credit. They also have nice wins over a couple pesky teams (East Ridge, Park C.G.). I know it's a bit early, but the Raiders might finally be headed in the right direction. The SEC looks real tough and competitive this year.

Yeah, the SEC seems up from last year; it may not be the Lake or the SSC, but there's a lot of depth and parity. As for the rest of the bubble, I'm looking to the SSC-the Lakevilles and Jefferson, who got a nice win last night. Roseau is still hovering in there, and Elk River isn't bad either. Holiday tourneys will really help us as we try to weigh the conferences against one another.
