In fact I bought for myself and my younger son.
I do have about 40 stitches in my chin from a lousy Protec mask in high school.
Check how loose the straps are, more than likely they are too loose.
blindref - how can we trust you to pick out injuries when you can't see your hand in front of your face! :)
Maybe we should be talking to his dog???

Ask him (which I'm sure he won't) then post his comments. At least that will discourage others and his defense will be right from the source. Could be very informative!

I will add though, refs, please start calling all hits to the head.
Players, you need to be smart too. Don't try and kill your opponents or one may come and try to kill you.
Coaches, you need to play a role in this too. Please discourage your players from using illegal hits. Again, it could cost you one of your own players as some big dope comes and smokes one of yours.
The reason? The game is beautiful when played correctly.

I read recently that an independent study found that the bauer 9900 helmet offers more protection than the m11, maybe that helmet is the solution people are looking for for this problem

Enjoy the boarding at the high school level while it lasts. I have heard that next up is banning all boarding in high school hockey. Pushing and open ice checking will be allowed but no slamming players up against the boards. They are learning so much about the real damage of concussions and it won't be pretty of fans of physical hockey in the very near future.

The first game that my son wore his new M11 helmet, he ended up with 10 stitches on his forehead -- above the eyebrow. He has been cut an additional 2 times on the forehead since then; thankfully, none of which required stitches. Another player on his team has also been cut while wearing the helmet. And yes, both helmets were fitted properly. The helmet may help w/ preventing concussions, but it should not cause lacerations to the forehead at the same time. I hope that the manufacturer can resolve this problem with the helmets asap.

Send them the medical bill and the helmet bill. Should be covered, no problem, with their insurance.

Hey Bookmark: The point being that my son is now in Junior Hockey and never once has he incurred a concussion (thank God) nor a cut on the forehead from his old helmets (and he wears a cage). I'm "JustSaying" that there is something wrong with the new M11. And by the way, the team is "asked" to wear them. It's not a option to wear an old helmet. When I saw the post on the forum I thought it was my obligation to report that the new M11 helmet has a flaw. It's kinda like Toyota...do you understand what I'm "JustSaying"?

Not to mention that NO helmet can or ever will PREVENT concussions

Ok after looking at my son's M11 I would have to say that these cut are compression cuts. I do not see how shell could cause the cut. After attempting to manipulate the helmet shell it appears that there is some flex when compressing from front to rear. If the helmet is snug and the impact hard enough it's possible the cut is a result of the pressure on the forehead area.
I don't believe any helmet can completely prevent a concussion. The manufactures do need to look at way to make their helmets safer. We as parents, coaches and refs should do our part to keep the head contact to a minimum.
I would rather get a cut to the forehead than another concussion...just saying.
Recent studies have found that no hockey helmet does anything to prevent concussions. All coaches who got certified this year were given a long talking to on the matter. Notice how the m11 no longer can make any claim about preventing concussions, that's because it has been proven that they do nothing for concussions. All they can do is protect players from linear force impacts, which dont cause concussions. Unless someone can put a helmet around the brain itself, no helmet will limit concussions.
As mentioned earlier the bauer 9900 offers the most protection from liners force impacts, and does not cut players who take shots to the head. I have heard of many teams discussing how their players have been cut from taking a shot to the helmet, all of them occuring on the forehead.

Seen two cuts on two separate players from two separate teams in two separate games over the past week. Guess I am saying nonrelated games. Both cuts minor, but did take them away from shifts to stop the bleeding.
Never seen this with the other brands.
