Grand Forks Blues ... bigger than Edina, not as fast or as skilled ... No.
Apple Valley ... I really don't know much about these kids, just a couple names ... file under unknown.
Woodbury ... lost to STMA 6 or 5 -1 ... No.
STMA ... maybe the best chance (I know of)due to their size and physical style.
Warroad ... got spanked by The '00 Fire 6-0, STMA lost to Fire 3-2 ... No.
Jr. Hurricanes ... *see Rampage, But I've heard they are the real deal ... Unknown.

And remember, these are 10 y/o's. Who knows who will show up on any given rink is an unknown as well. I'd watch Edina in the 7am quarter final, they have 3-4 kids that never show up ready for early morning games (i.e. 8:00am 3-0 victory Vs. Elk River in Edina tourney.) Very low shot total that game.

BUT, if I was to bet a dollar ... Edina wins.

Tied the Fire last week 2-2, STMA was winning 2-1 with 47 sec. to go,STMA left the backdoor open for J.J.

Of all the minnesota teams listed above (sorry should have quoted)...only STMA will even be in the final 8. Most of the others won't make it that far.

STMA is good but does not have a chance against Edina (for all practical purposes neither does anyone else for that matter...someone please prove me wrong!)

Have heard the Jr. Hurricains will be good, Colorodo teams have a some success in the past but not all the way, they may make it out of their first two games as well.

This field is weaker than I have seen in the past. Having no d-10 teams hurts the field, D10 has 5 good teams Andover, ER, Centennial, Blaine and Anoka (none that can beat Edina) but that is it.

Out of D2 Stillwater has the best chance with WBL second the rest probably won't make it out of their first two rounds. Both Stillwater and WBL do not have cakewalks early as they will have pretty good teams in their opening two game brackets. They better come to play from the beginning! I know this hurt Stilly in Edina, and they have had some suspect defensive play. I did hear they haven't lost much in D2.

Other teams that should have a good chance to hang around for a while would be Farmington, EP, Sibley, Wayzata, OMG, Prior Lake, Eastview. Watch out for a few with good goaltending like Highland or Lakeville North, their goalies may keep them in the game (might put Eastview in that category as well).

As the tourney goes on look for the teams with more depth and 15 skaters to start taking over, it is lot of hockey for these little guys over a short period of time! A battle of the fittest so to speak!

You are correct about a few kids dominating. However, if the kid has played every other shift for 6 games vs playing every other shift in the last few games it makes a difference. I know EP had a few good players but I think they had 15 skaters, it keeps the rest of the team fresh. I may be wrong but just my own observation from years past. It does seem to me that more and more teams are shortening their bench at squirts...kind of sad actaully. It is all about winning!

Uh no, not at this tournament. Unless you are talking about the "couple kids" for E.P. being the two goalies that made PWA this year. You do need goal-tending. But if you want to talk skaters, SIX of those are also first year PWA's, and they are all playing significant roles on that team.
E.P. won because of goal-tending, team speed and depth, and solid coaching.

You don't win Fargo with a couple kids.

By the way, I'll take Edina at 5-3 odds. I just don't see anyone outscoring them.

How about the rest of D6 teams other than Edina? They have all done well in the last a couple of years. EP, Tonka, PL, Chaska, Jefferson, Waconia, and others.

EP, good not great this year. Good draw, should get out of their first 2 games after that will be tough. May make a run.

Tonka is OK, have a tougher draw could have some issues with WBL...if the bears can score any goals!

Jefferson small squad, not very deep...tougher draw as well with some teams of their caliber in their group (Shakopee and GR are both OK and will challange them for sure)

Prior Lake has a tougher draw as well but may make the sweet 16 (eastview has good goaltending and can play well in some games).

Waconia is not as good this year. Chaska is good but not in this tourney.

Edina is the clear cut favorite here...no doubt about that. Other than that, it's anyone's guess. Lots of talk about Eastview, PL, Sibley, Tonka, etc. One never knows which team is going to show up. Rosemount just beat PL 8-3 this past week, beat Sibley 2-1 tonight, after losing to them 1-0 back in Bloomington, split with Eastview this year, tied Minnetonka, and beat OMGHA. On the same hand, they have been beaten by some teams they shouldn't have.

Anything can happen with kids this age. Goalies will be key as will the teams that can stay fresh the longest. It should be a fun tourney for sure, but I don't see anyone giving Edina much of a challenge. They are very good.

2) I'm not sure, could be the nefarious political issues that have always seem to crop up. Of course there is what I have heard, but hockey rink gossip is worse than the beauty salon!

I have seen most of district 8 teams and a few from 6. I don't think 8 is that strong but hope I am proven wrong. Eastview or Farmington will win the regular season title (they have not played yet) and nobody else really in the hunt. Some of the D8 teams like LN and Sibley appear to have pretty good draws in Fargo but I would be surprised/happy to seen more than one D8 team get to final 16. No in-state team touches Edina (but I have not seen them play) - hopefully an out stater can at least give them a scare. Should be fun!
