Looking forward to my alma mater making it back to the state tourney...go Bemidji.

To answer in full, Bemidji has made the section final 4 times since the Pelawa Era....1988, 1990, 1997, and 2000. I was at 3 of those 4.

1988 lost to Warroad in TRF; Larry Olimb's senior year
1990 lost to Roseau in TRF; Roseau went on to win the state tourney with 7 or 8 players going division 1
1997 lost to Moorhead
2000 ?

I haven't seen bashing on this post. What I see is a lot of people rooting for the underdog!!! These Bemidji Boys have worked hard and given a community hope at something that it has not achieved for YEARS... in doing so, I think it gives others hope as well. GO BEMIDJI! You CAN do it! Now, GO do it!!!!!

Where I said "this post", I mis-spoke. I actually meant on the forum in general. There has been pleanty about what the taters have or have not done OFF the ice. What matters tomorrow night is what they do ON the ice. Hey, even I like an underdog. Bemidji is the number one seed. The taters are the underdog. Go Spuds.

We'll just have to wait and see how bemidji handles the nerves of a big game since they haven't been to the section finals for about a decade. Im thinking their tails will be between the legs once they see how big of a crowd will be at this game. Ill take the SPUDS 4-1

Ya -- I know they are the number one seed, but based on the history of the two programs and the lack of respect they have gotten over the season since they have a weaker schedule, I would still call them the underdogs..... GO JACKS!

I predict that crowd will just get the Jacks going, cuz half the town of Bemidji will be there to cheer them on! :P GO JACKS!

Congrats to the Spuds. While it would've been fun to see the Bemidji bandwagon roll into St. Paul next week, I have no trouble rooting for the Potatoes this time of year. I'd love to see them get Edina in the first round, and have a shot at a repeat of two years ago...

Tough loss for the Jacks; this looked like it might've been their year to break through. Sometime in my lifetime, someone else will win 8AA...

One Bemidji player taken out with severe concussion in first period, another with a completely separated shoulder and another injured his knee......that in addition to the player that was still out due to a previous separation.....hard loss for a good team. They were fun to watch. Lot of juniors on the team....come back and get 'em next year!

Final result 2-0 spuds with an emptynetter.

both teams had plenty of opportunities they failed to capitalize on.

Or maybe the Spuds will meet up with the Hounds at the X. That'd be fun, eh, Karl? :D

Just got home from the game about an hour ago and I can definitely say I'm glad I was there. Excellent game, hard fought on both sides. The first period was pretty even in spite of the 1-0 lead the Spuds had.

The Spuds owned the 2nd period though and should have widened the margin with several good scoring chances, including a 2-on-0 breakaway that I still don't know how they missed the wide open net.

At the point in the game where Noah Julin for the Spuds and one of the Jacks were on the ice wrestling, I thought for sure Julin was going to get tossed (and rightfully so) because I know he threw a punch. But both players just ended up with double minors. After both players went to the sin bin, they were still yapping at each other and the referee had to go over tell both of them to knock it off. Tip of the cap to Bemidji. They played a great game.

Oh well, so much for polls !

Was a very entertaining game. Both teams went hard, fast & physical.
Thanx to the Jacks - they have a nice looking team. They'll be back next year.

They didn't miss it, graves stuck is stick out and deflected the puck wide. It was unreal. Great game tho. The Spuds best keep on rolling.

Sounds good to me! Preferably in a later round at the X, though.

First things first; the Hounds have to win tonight...

No offense Karl, but I'd rather see the Taters get Edina. They're 3-3-1 (all time) against them, only 6-10-3 against the Hounds. Plus the Hounds smoked 'em pretty good earlier this season, (although in the State Tourney, the Taters are 3-2 against the Hounds).

Fine with me...I'd rather not see the northern teams get stuck with each other in the first round. (Though based on the results of the December game, I wouldn't complain too much.)

I was thinking about this game tonight and got kind of frustrated. I was very disappointed with Bemidji's performance. All night they dumped the puck and then changed lines. They never established a forecheck. Moorhead was able to get the puck out of the zone very easily.
Except for the 1st goal and the missed opportunity, this was a kind of a boring game.
Bemidji's waved off goal wasn't even exciting because the ref had it waved off RIGHT AWAY. You knew that it wasn't a goal.

I do think that was Moorhead's best defensive game of the year. Hands down.

Am I the only one that feels this way?

How do you call basically a 1-0 game boring? Was Bemidji at it's top in performance for the season? No. Unfortunately, while they knew that they were already missing one player, there was no way for them to anticipate the injury of 3 other players during the game. To see a teammate taken out in the first period with a severe concussion -- having no clue where he was or what was going on... not even being able to walk unassisted, had to be disturbing to this close knit group on and off the ice. The way they responded, by preventing Moorhead from scoring in the remaining of the game, even though they continued to lose more players to injury and were playing some kids that normally play jv -- shows what incredible depth this team had. Every single line was shifted. This game could have gone either way. Unfortunately for Bemidji, they could not get one in the net. To lose 2-0, with one of those being an empty netter is hardly a sleeper!!!

I didn't know that these injuries occured and I do feel bad that they happened.

I am not from either town, I didn't care who won the game, and I went to see a great hockey game. A 1-0 game can be boring to an outsider when there isn't much offense. Bemidji was obviously robbed of this by the injuries. So, it took away from the game. I am sure it was still very exciting for those that are from the towns.

I wish the the injured speedy recoveries. It is to bad it had to happen because I think it would have been a MUCH better game.
