Tryouts haven't started, and there are lists for the top teams. So much can change from one year to the next at this level. Maybe if you have an entire team of 2nd year players you can get a good idea but how many teams are going to be in that situation.

There will be exceptions but several top Squirt A teams, especially from large associations which often is a direct connection to top, will only have 2-3 first year players.

I agree with MrBoDangles. What is STMA's secret? A lot of people have asked the same question. Anyone have an answer? Our association needs the same secret! What will their Squirt A's be like this year? The Edina's EP's, Elk River's, OMG and so on are obvious.
I just learned that one of the STMA parents used to live in Hollywood and was a film-maker. They are now using his talents to film all games & scrimmages of their opponents. The secret can be found in the classroom not icetime. They have used film to perfect the Chech forecheck for example. I'm considering a move to STMA. I also really enjoy the outlet mall - good deals. :D Seriously though, they have simply made a strong commitment to becoming better at all levels.

where do STMA kids end up going in HS? They have been strong at the squirt level for some time but them seem to kind of disappear.

9. Fargo Flyers
10. Grand Rapids
How many kids does Elk River bring back from last years A team? They only had one B-1 team and it wasn't the strongest..

What's the secret over at STMA? They only have three or four Squirt teams every year and they're able to compete with the best.....?
You crack me up Mr Bo. 1/2 the team is back and two move-ins from other association that were A Squirts.

Did you guys get your rink yet?
Where did the two new move-ins come from?

would Andover crack the top 10?

I dont think Andover would be in the top ten, I was talking to St Cloud Squirt A and they said it was about even game.

I was at the Superrink when St Cloud and Andover played. Final score was 11-3 Andover, and one of those for St Cloud was an accidental tip in from an Andover kid late in the 3rd. That sure sounds like an "even game".

The St Cloud parents said the shots were very even. IF it wasnt for two plaers on the Andover team it would have been tied.

moosepaw has a good point. Instead of AA and A, maybe we should enact a rule that says, when playing a team from D5 (or D4 or D9), you must sit your first line in the interest of parity.

Shots were something like 45 to 30.
It looked like Andover played harder, good back checking, forechecking, passing. Defense had a lot of shots too.
I don't think it was near even from a team comparison. Is St Cloud just 1 association for the whole city, burbs? They must have some good numbers if so...

If it wasn't for one of the St. Cloud players, #12 was a pleasure to watch, great player, they would have had no goals. And their first goalie made some trememdous plays as well. So, take those two players out and it's 17 - 1,the one goal the Andover own goal.

And yes, one Andover kid did have 4 nets, but two of those were set up from line mates. The other two he earned well on his own.

Two other Andover kids had 2 goals each
And 3 had one each.

Andover is a good team... I'm just saying that I don't think they are top ten... We just started practicing and I think the coach and the players are starting to jell... Plus we have some mites on the team

The shots were closer some of those that Andover has were icings from the pressure

grasp for straws much?

11-3 and St Cloud was applying the pressure ???

I'd quit trying to spin this, it's approaching fail status.

Not sayin' ... I'm just sayin'

Epic fail status!

Andover(I could see top 10) should be right there with Elk River in District 10.... How about Champlin Park? I've heard that they might make a run in districts this year......

Well, he had to be referring to Andover having mites on their team, because St. Cloud, being in District 5, can't have mites on any team except the lowest level offered by district rule.

We do have some small kids.... District 5 allows kids to be on other teams.. DickephArt has changed his mind.....hopefully we can run into Andover in a tourney for a real game..... Looking forward to getting back in to District 10 and hang some more banners

seriously, you clowns get this worked up about squirt hockey?

i thought there could be some discussion on good squirt teams but apparently not, too many squirt parents aren't mature enough for that.
