Anything to be read into Mike mentioning Skoog before Parker in nets? Probably just a coincindence or I'm just looking for anything to talk about here.

I'd guess it's just a coincidence. I bet they'll be watching Parker's performance in the Elite League, among other things, before making a decision. And even so, I'm guessing we might see some alternation, which is what happened the last time they had a junior and a senior competing for the job. (Of course, that time the senior took offense and ended up quitting...let's not repeat that.)

Struggle at the end of the season? Most would say they accomplished more last season than what was expected. Maybe that was a fluke. Mike has, I believe, coached thirteen state tournament teams, so I'm going to trust my gut and say Mike knows more about coaching than you do. Including goalies.

But hey, way to voice your opinion. After your son is no longer going to be playing for East, of course. Bravo.

I would have to agree with Jamar on this. However, Skoog is a more solid goaltender. Evan is a good goalie but is not ready for varsity. As for Lee, he has coached all those teams. yet when they were bantams they produced more. The coaching had nothing to do with it. Team became a family. That is the reason they went so far. He stands at the banquet and says he has nothing to do with goaltending. Jojo was produced by Kolquist. The "head" coach knows nothing about goalies

Blueblood.... His name is Trevor Olson. Wears number 12. Without Olson, I bet the line goes nowhere. Seperate the line and Olson goes farther. He is the most over looked player on the team. Missing the all-state team and being called whoever for example. He lead the team in points last year. I'm willing to bet he goes for a repeat. Oh and he's a physical player. I don't see Randolph or Toninato laying out the body for the team. Olson is most complete player on the team.

I was reading on mnhockeyhub.com that Jake Randolph suffered a concussion in elite league play. What's his status right now? I hope he has a fast recovery. He's one of the many exciting players to watch in MNHS hockey.

I heard he's off the Elite team. No point in risking another concussion right after the first one. He'll be ready to go in November.

I do not know a whole lot about the DE Program, However, I can imagine it not going over real well with some locals if a SR Tender moves in and takes the spot of Home grown. I believe all names mentioned are better then average goalies. i am sure come November it will be interesting

I talked was @ a Skoog family gathering Sat night. Talked to all the kids. They LOVE East. The kids are "GREAT" is what Paige told me. The move seems to be a good thing for the family. East sounds like they have a great group of kids. The adults should stay away if they want to cause problems!!!!!!!!!!!!

After Jeanetta and Perlinger graduated last spring, I bet a friend $20 there'd be a new goalie at East by the start of the 2011-12 season. Of course I won - and made him pay twice with two new goalies coming in - $40 in my pocket all thanks to typical DE Hockey staff actions. And it's all by the rules!!

Coach makes these kids totally commit to him from the get go, then he turns his back on them when the going gets tough. Thank goodness the parents that do get involved actually have kids in the program, unlike East Hockey our Administrator. Tough to see a hockey parent perspective unless you have been one.

Well give 20 of that back seeing as how DE only has one new goalie, Skoog, and Parker is homegrown and has risen in the ranks.

For my own sanity, I may have to join Oldtimer in the popcorn-eating section on East threads this year. Whether it is self-inflicted or undeserved--I'm sure we could argue about that, too--the amount of scrutiny this program gets never ceases to amaze me.

I have to chime in now. I understand the bitter feelings of those who have "outsiders" enter their world and take ice time. It also sucks when someone else gets the promotion at the work place. I'm also a bit embarrassed for those who go to such lengths as to move their family so they can play on a certain hockey team. Are people doing this in belief they have a better shot at the scholarship? Or is it just for the experience of playing on a good team? In big games? I see both sides I guess? But the Oh so bitter folks screaming when a kid moves in and makes the team, I believe, has entitlement issues and most likely is the same person who believes he is getting screwed in every other part of his life.

Hmmm what to say about East. I can honestly say that people either LOVE Mike Randolph or HATE him. I guess it depends on who the person is. The people I know who LOVE him are the people who appreciate winning and if their kids played for Mike, fully appreciate his honesty.

The People who HATE him are those who feel they are owed something or their kid was cut for not being the right fit for the team. Parents always think their kids should be there making the play and it's very difficult to accept that sometimes the kids not the right fit. Its not always due to the lack of talent, but maybe attitude?

As far as the goalie situation from what I know and have read. Neither Parker or Skoog is "Home Grown". Its true that the Parker family have two homes and are split between the two and the entire Skoog family moved to Duluth. SO whats right and whats wrong? Who knows.
In the end if both kids moved to East to be the guy, only one will be and that will be up to Randolph. So to end like I started, One will LOVE him and One will HATE him.
