Always enjoy the rankings, Karl. I love HS hockey, but usually am not able to really dive into it until right around this time. This usually helps me keep up to speed on things for the most part.
Is it too early to start discussing potential state tournament seeds? Probably close enough where it can begin. Seems to be clear cut if the top-4 all won their respective sections. Would it just move up if an EP or Benilde won 6AA & Edina would become the #4? Would that 6AA winner move up to a seed if they did knock of Tonka?
Or is it best if I just let the next 3-4 weeks of hockey do the talking?

I don't think it's too early to ask. I agree the top 4 seem clear-cut right now; if Tonka gets upset in sections I would lean towards giving the 6AA rep the #4, but with so many Lake games between EP, Tonka, and Edina left, a lot could happen before then. We'll see how much those three manage to beat each other up. Benilde, on the other hand, only has a few real challenges left on the schedule--Shattuck and Moorhead, plus the game with Wayzata once they reschedule it.
On paper we have a very strong state tournament field this year, though it's almost inevitable that an upset or two will mess with it. 7 sections are represented in the top ten right now, and even 1AA has two teams in the top 20. 6AA is still the strongest, but it's not as lopsided as it has been the past few years. Just about everyone at this year's tournanent will deserve their berth, or have beaten someone very good to earn it.

In this case, maybe, but NOT ALWAYS! Example: No. 1 team is undefeated at 20-0; No. 2 team has 4 losses at 16-4, including a recent one to No. 1. Does No. 2 now deserve to be the new No. 1?

That's different - going in everyone knew that this game was for the national championship! Here we are talking SUBJECTIVE RANKINGS ONLY!
Something else to take into consideration: this is a regular season game, just one of 25 on a long road to the playoffs. If this game were the state championship and the 4-loss team beat the undefeated team, I think most of us would agree the winner of that game deserves to be #1. But in a mid-January match-up, when teams may still be working on systems and building towards the postseason. While I'm sure both coaches would love a win, they may not pull out all the stops the way they would if this game were in March.
