We didn't have any excuse last year either.GordonBombay99 wrote:Another 2nd seed going down, Alexandria, Eden Prairie and now White Bear Lake, this is not the year to be a 2nd seed. Hill Murray has no excuses if they don't make state this year!
Man, talk about an all-time backfire.sachishi4 wrote:Pretty cruel of the WBL students to chant seasons over at their own team with 13 minutes left in the third. How did they know??
I was alerted by a Woodbury friend of mine, a basketball coach even, that this happened.BodyShots wrote:I thought going into this year, WBL's strength would be defense and goaltending. Boy was I wrong. 5 goals isn't enough to get by Johnson.
With Johnson getting to within a goal with about a minute left, my wife looks at me and says Sager better take his timeout. I look at Sager on the bench, and he looks like a deer in headlights. NO CLUE what is happening.
He thinks he has "slim pickings" this year, wait until next.
I hope he does get canned. But, with our luck, he'll probably be back again.Goldfishdude wrote:I was alerted by a Woodbury friend of mine, a basketball coach even, that this happened.BodyShots wrote:I thought going into this year, WBL's strength would be defense and goaltending. I have to make a rare appearance, and state....
I will NEVER support WBL hockey again until Bozo gets run out of town. He absolutely is inadequate as a leader, and as I said last year, they won because of Brandon Wahlin, Max Birkinbine and Mac Jansen.
He has got to go. PERIOD.
Hockeyfan??? Haha, I posted my comment before I read your post.hockeyfan893 wrote:It's too bad we're missing good ol' Goldfishdude for his eccentric Bear's commentary. I'm sure he might have had a thing or two to say about today's outcome
Fan, in fact, I am a huge H-M fan. Ex-wife's family went there and Lex asked for my son to go there. Many friends have been there. BB coach Ghizoni was one of my coaches.hockeyfan893 wrote:Hail, GFD! As always, you're welcome to hop on the black and green wagon.
Sounds like some recruiting on the part of Younghans.Goldfishdude wrote:Hockeyfan??? This is ridiculous. Bodyshots is closer to the program than I ever was, but I have known Sager since 1977. I am thrilled to see that smug smirk wiped off his face.
More importantly, I am THRILLED for Moose.. A class guy who offered my son a spot on his team, if he wanted it. Can't say enough about Moose, who has dedicated his whole life to Johnson area.
PPG, how are ya, pal? I missed ya!Pioneerprideguy wrote:No way! He beat Hill who was ranked #1 in the State. He was named Coach of the Year last year. As a loyal customer of Moose, he knew my son's situation, and if emails to me are recruitment, than, hell yes!!!!

Ah, arrogance. What a difference a year makes.stpaul wrote:How are we going to get that streak back to 14 if we only play once a year?
GFD who do you think should be the head coach next year if they get rid of Sager?Goldfishdude wrote:I was alerted by a Woodbury friend of mine, a basketball coach even, that this happened.BodyShots wrote:I thought going into this year, WBL's strength would be defense and goaltending. Nope, beating Moorhead was Rapids' best win.Tigers33 wrote:I will just throw this out there...Anyone want to put any of the blame on the kids? I think some has to, correct? I mean you are 5-1 and you let them give up. Not as if Sager said in the locker room, okay boys game is over. Lets pack it in and call it a night.
Sounds like poor coaching, sounds like lack of quality leadership amongst the players, and sounds like a very overrated hockey team.
And think...WBL was Grand Rapids best win. Ouch!
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. One loss, even a bad, unexpected, embarrassing loss, should be kept in perspective. Even great coaches occasionally experience terrible losses and life goes on.Goldfishdude wrote:I will NEVER support WBL hockey again until Bozo gets run out of town. Remember, it was only a year ago when Sager's team was on the other end of an unexpected and bad loss against the then #1 team in the state. And this year, WBL were conference champs again.
Sager survived an anonymous "fire Sager" campaign in 2008. If there's another campaign after today's loss, he will no doubt survive it, too.
