Going down to Rochester tonight for this one, anyone who has been to this game before have an idea on getting there early? Does the Rec Center usually fill up? I haven't been down there in quite a while, but I remember it having a fairly large capacity.

Wish I could be at this game. Kloos is going to need to rise to the occasion.

Another thing that might be the biggest key to this game is how Coach Weber uses Kloos. Will he wear him down early like he does sometimes or will he stick to the depth they have over North so that Kloos has legs in the third period. In last years game, Kloos could barely move once overtime came around. Will it be the same this year? or can Coach Weber learn from mistakes and keep him somewhat fresh for the late minutes?

Last year North also came up with a completely different game plan than their two previous meetings during the year which appeared to frustrate Kloos and kept him off the scoring sheet. Then was too gassed to be effective in the overtimes and from what I heard wasn't feeling well anyway. North is going to have to create a game plan to keep him off the score sheet and the first thing that comes to mind is staying out of the penalty box which hasn't always been there strong suit this year. Should be a good game wish I could get down there to watch this match-up again. I have to give the edge to South with Kloos and a more experienced staff who has made their mistakes and learned from them but this game could go either way. I think the first period could be the deciding factor this year.

Yep, they came up with the "our goalie will make 56 saves plan". If not for Lindgren last year it simply would not have mattered. At the end of regulation I believe the shots were about 45-15. North earned the win but if the coaching staff came up with such an unbelievable game plan then why did they get fired?

Sorry, couldn't resist!

As for this year, no doubt North will need to contain the attack by South's potent top line but it might just come down to which team gets better goal tending.

Hey they did roll three lines all game and overtime instead of two and it showed in the overtime periods. You have a better goaltender and know what he is capable of doing why not. He was part of the team and probably part of the plan. As far the head coach getting fired it really wasn't justified and I think anyone with some knowledge of what happened would agree. Not saying a change didn't need to happen at some point but the way it did was completely unprofessional. As for the new staff which has almost everyone back from last year I would say that it wasn't a coaching issue just not a ton of top end talent other than the goaltender from last year. They basically have about the same record with a schedule that wasn't as good as last years.
I hope tonights game is a good one but I think that South may have better prepared team and an edge up on North.

I'll agree with that but it was not specifically designed to deal with South. They used the same formula during the season to beat Eagan and in the tourney to knock off Moorhead and WBL. A hot goalie makes coaches look good!

Not good enought apparently. His contract wasn't renewed! :D . The new coaches job may be in trouble if they don't at least win the Consolation Championship and they must win tonight for that to happen!!

Disagree...win or lose, head coach will be back.

I was kidding of course. I think he will be as well! Unless of course something better comes along his way during the off season!

Looks like South left no doubt in anyone's mind who should represent section 1AA in the state tournament

I'm a little disappointed with Kloos - only 99 pts. so far this year? lol Congrats to Kloos and the LS team and good luck in the tourney. (sure wish he could have gotten that 100th point, though)

A little more ice time in one of those sectional games.

Lol. No kidding hah? By the way, you have the best username ever! Great 80s song. Cory Hart ruled.

On a more serious note, I do think LS winning tonight pretty much guaranteed Kloos winning Mr Hockey. All the other candidates are certainly worthy, but you can't argue with this kid to win it.

Not that it matters but from the point of view from someone at the game; It was a combo or South playing well and North beating themselves that lead to the blowout tonight. South got on the board early on a bad goal the North goalie looked shaky on. After that North took some dumb penalties and South got up 3-0.. North cut it to 3-1 on the power play but then gave up a goal and then took a 5 min major at the end of the 2nd. South scored twice on the major right away in the 3rd to make it 6-1 and that was all she wrote. I was disappointed North didn't play very well and took stupid penalties but South deserved the win tonight and completely out played North.. for those counting, Kloos didn't play the last 10 min of the 3rd :) and actually North's Winiecki looked gased I thought, he was out there a lot! But who do we blame for Norths poor performance and stupid penalties now Schmitz is gone??

South is hot, outscored their section 33-1.. they will definitely see much better competition next week but I would be on upset alert if I was playing them

If North could have put one in on that second power play I think the outcome might have been different. North just scored to make it 3-1 on a power play and South went right back in the box, South Was really looking tight, North missed some opportunities by not shooting the puck, South killed the penalty and scored soon after to go up 4-1, then North got the major penalty and then it was just if we went to running time or not.

Kudos to both schools, there were a good number of students there and maybe 500 more than for the 1A game with a Rochester team in it.

It appears the game went as most thought. North looked unprepared and South took advantage of it in the first period then taking a major penalty at the end of the second and that was all South needed. Congrats to South and good luck at the state tournament. I would expect they will play Duluth East since the Lakeville teams always get to play the #1 seed.

Goaltending was why North went to State last year and did so well. Goaltending was the reason North lost the game last night plain and simple. Three of the first 4 goals were VERY soft and put North in a deep hole. Realisitcally, it should have been 1-1 at the end of 2 and that makes it a totally differant game. South skated very well and very much deserved the win. South should represent Section 1AA very well at the X next week. Again, congratulations to Lakeville South!!

North's loss last night to South was a total team effort. Yes, goaltending was an issue, but the defense/offense didn't play well, either. There were many missed passes, very few face-off wins, turnovers, and again, the penalties. It's all too easy to always blame the goaltender - yes, this goalie has played much better games, but the entire team played a part in this loss. Congrats to South - best of luck!

A little unfair to blame the loss all on the goaltender when North was outshot 42-13. So if Lindgren was in net they would have won 1-0. Come on! This team has almost the exact same skaters as they did last year and had no improvement. All of their defensemen played last year except the Mcneely kid. All the leading scorers returned but 1! Unfortunately they weren't ready to play. They showed they could play with South earlier this year explain what happened then. South deserves to be in the state tournament I wish them the best of luck.
