Considering half the teams or more are in the north metro it would be fun to see the section championship change from year to year. One year be played in Amsoil and the next year be played...oh wait, yeah there really isnt another logical option. I suppose St. Cloud would be the only other choice.
It is definitely an advantage to sleep in your own bed the night before a big game and drive 5 minutes to the arena vs. sit on a bus for 2+ hours, or sleep in a hotel room the night before a game. It is also an advantage for the casual hockey fan, cause some people wont drive 2+ hours to watch a game for various reasons. With this said it would be fun to see Duluth travel to play. However, my prediction this year is Rapids vs. Andover for the section championship. Thoughts?
The reason 8AA does it is because you have 5 hours between Roseau and Buffalo. So it's not very fair for one team to travel that far, plus you arent gonna pack that many people in the Roseau Memorial or the Buffalo Civic Center. It will be interesting to see if Bemidji hosts a championship game in their new arena.

Have to agree somewhat, probably more a 'location' advantage.
8A would be home ice advantage for Thief River Falls.
1 out of 3 years...
but 8A has 3 great locations, so it rotates.

As an example:
I would say in Edina versus Duluth East at the State Tourney, Edina would have the "home advantage."

So, according to your logic, it's okay for metro teams to have home ice advantage in the state tourney, but it's not okay for an outstate team to have an advantage in the 7AA playoffs? Or do you think the state tourney should be moved to a "neutral" site?
The Xcel is the best place for the state tourney; Amsoil is the best place for the 7AA playoffs.
Never said it was fair, I just said that's the way it is.
Let's face it, it's all about the benjamins baby. $$ Mo' tickets, Mo' money.
