WHAT!! Prior Lake was beat.

This must not be true.
True, true. WBL controlled the 2nd half of the game. Hit some pipes in the 3rd.
It was a scrimmage...

It was a scrimmage...
Not sure what that means? Your team didn't try? If there was a ref, a clock and a score it's a game.

I bet D2 called it a game.

Let me help you out:

Scrimmage: "An exhibition game, an informal sports contest or practice match which does not go on the regular season record"

Look...hats off to WBL for "winning" a practice game that meant nothing.
They are great team...no doubt.

Maroon and Gold Game
2 refs
1 hr 30 min ice time
resurface after 2 periods
2 periods were 15 min, 3rd period was 20 min to fill the time.
Scoresheets filled out

Not sure if you call them games or a scrimmages, I call them games.

Well congrats to you. Show me where your games show up in the stats and I'll concur.

Hockey Nut,

I know what you're saying and I also know Prior Lake has a history of calling non District games scrimmages. They use to list them as scrimmages on their website but hopefully that's been fixed.

The definition has changed for a few years now. They're all games. Call them district games and non District games if you'd like but the word scrimmage is gone. The team lost a game.

And, they do count and will affect your teams ranking.

You are right, the Maroon and Gold League games do not go against your district record or mean anything at the end of the year. Same goes for every tournament game.

YHH stats every game/scrimmage played http://youthhockeyhub.com/rankings-2013/

Very simple - if you lose, it meant nothing, and was a scrimmage. I've never heard anyone refer to a M&G game as a scrimmage.

Osseo - Maple Grove AA- 3
Minneapolis Storm A - 1

Minneapolis actually outplayed and outshot OMG. OMG's #7 had a nice individual effort (2 unassistedvgoals) which made the difference.

Keep an eye on the Storm at A and B1 this year. Could be their coming out party in March.

Not sure what your angel is on the OMG/Mpls game... keep an eye out for an association that should be AA/A but opted to go A/B1? and lost?

Mpls Storm - 8 PW teams with only 1 single A team
OMG - 7 PW teams with 1 AA team and 1 A team

I'm all for the up and comers as well, but keep it some what real

an association to keep an eye on for the future would be
Hermantown - 4 PW teams AA/A/B/B.

My angle is that OMG is rated top 10 this year on most score-sheets, they should have crushed Mpls no matter what the designation. I agree, though, that the Storm should be AA.

People don't generally give associations credit for looking after their own interests. Opting down actually gives Mpls a good shot at a deeper run in post-season, with Wayzata and OMG's top 1-16 otherwise engaged in their own AA tourney. Give them some credit, that will give a boost to the association.... just like playing a competitive match with one of the best AAs will give them a boost.

On another note, no one is going to be surprised by Hermantown. Everyone loves them or hates them -- but there's no one who doesn't respect them.

K, its hard to repect an organization that has 8 teams at a level but doesn't field the highest level ( AA ) then seeks credit for chasing a trophy.

Oh whatever. The point is to seek parity and give someone other than Wayzata and OMG a chance to have a post-season in D3. Some associations have a "trophy at all costs" mentality, others have a bigger picture in mind, but they're not always mutually exclusive goals.

If this were such a difficult reality to swallow, MNHockey never would have granted Mpls's application to opt down.

Maybe we withhold conferring our "respect" or "disrespect" until, I dunno, we're maybe a few more weeks into the season?

I'm really sure the kids will feel terrible about earning your disrespect if they win more games than you think they should.
