EP has had many very good scoring chances. Could easily be 5-6 to 1 right now.

Yeah, that was easily the best period I've seen EP play. They finally looked like the top 5 team we all thought they were at the start of the year. Fantastic puck movement from that first unit, with Snuggerud ringing a few pipes, and the lower lines got in on the act some, too.

Spinner is really standing out to me of the EP players, he is fast and is making a lot of chances out there

Definitely their biggest playmaker. Looks like EP was trying different guys out at D...

IMO key tonight was getting scoring from other than the top line, plus defensively EP did a great job in minimizing odd man rushes.

#1 Goalie had some nice saves for EP too.

EP is going to need him to play solid all year. When he is on his game, it's very tough for teams to get pucks by him.

no question Edina is the best team in the State right now. It's men vs boys against Grand Rapids. These teams aren't in the same world

Exactly. Edina is #1, and it's not even close. They're one of the deepest high school teams I've ever seen.

That first period was absolutely dominated by edina 4-0 after one shots 23 to 6 according to the edina board but the 2nd was a lot more even

There was no way GR was gonna keep uP with Edina. They simPly don't have the depth. Few teams do. A lot of the metro teams are so deep. Edina looks like early favorite of teams to beat.

Yes Edina is good but their rink is full of empty seats.

you would be looking at the grand rapids side. Home side was quite full till the end of the 2nd then the high school kids all left, assuming the later game tonight conflicted with there homework

Rapids D looked terrible. They were beat to every loose puck and could barely make a break out pass. Not to mention the D zone coverage....

Forwards were ok in transition but there was no forecheck. Is Edina really that good or is rapids below average this year?

No question Edina is #1. Gotta give props to GR goalie though as he has to have faced almost 50+ shots

I saw all the games in the Tourney and the best players I thought were..
Hurley, Bergh, Malmquist, Peterson, Reno.

Edina is going to be tough to beat this year, they truly are a complete team from up front to Reno/Nelson to Benjamin.

You have to remeber their rink seats 2-3x the average HS venue. Close to 3000 capacity.

Rapids seats 2500 and they've had sellouts already. Edina being #1 and having a half empty arena on FSN is an embarrassment to the State of Hockey.

There wasn't a seat to be found during the Edina/EP game. Their student section was great all 3 games. What more can you ask from them?

I'd say the score of that Rapids game is more of an embarrassment

there side was almost full... grand rapids side though however was quite empty yes. so if thats the edina fans fault for not filling in the opponents side then i apologize for all edina fans. if the camera was on the other side though im sure you woudn't be complaining as much or maybe if they put the edina EP game on fsn but neither of those happened so maybe Rapids should travel better to fill out that side... yeah that seems about as fair as blaming the edina fans for a empty opponents section

Edina gives an entire side to the opponent? GR fills both sides and one end of the arena and only gives one or two sections to the away fans.

Maybe attendance was sub-par because their opponent was sub-par.

Rapids fans are impossible to please. I remember them complaining about Pagel at hockey day last year, calling it a practice rink. The Rapids rink is one of the best, and they usually get a good turnout, but that doesn't mean everything else is bad.

One thing that might have led to decreased attendance was the fact that Rapids isn't really a big draw this year. There are much better teams in the metro than Rapids. Casual fans don't want to spend $7 to watch a blow out, especially when it's on TV for free. When you add to the fact that its a late start (8:30) on a week day, I think most would rather watch on TV.

Last thing: the design of Braemar lends itself to looking more empty on TV than it really is. The home seating is on the same side as the cameras, and the concourses are at the top, which leads fans to sit towards the top. The rows that the cameras catch most are the last to be filled.

And as was previously stated, the place was probably 95% full on Saturday, most likely over 2500.
