Dreaded drive? It's an hour and a half  , has more to do with always finishing each other's season. A lot of these guys play baseball and they've been seeing orange in their sleep since June.

Does that wink indicate you're kidding or lessening the impact?? The drive from Forest Lake to Grand Rapids, or vice versa, sucks. 2.5 hours at least. Freeway for only part of the drive (if you don't take the freeway the drive is even longer and slower), 2-lane for half of it and being forced to take it on a bus adds to the misery. These kids are young, they bounce back quickly from a long bus ride, but don't discount the drain it can have on someone, especially if the weather is questionable and slows the drive even more.

Has nothing to do with the drive, has everything to do with Forest Lake finally being competitive after years of Grand Rapids dominating. They met many times in the 2/7 quarterfinal in the 90's and the game was never close. Rapids might be hitting their stride at just the right time now. Interesting they put freshman Jonah Bischoff on the 1st line and he had 2 goals last night.

Against a class A team missing its one star. Come on DJ. Don't get too excited after every win and too disappointed after every loss.

DJ does have a passion for Grand Rapids Hockey. Player? former player? team manager? Parent? regardless if DJ did not post we would not know as much about Rapids as we do.

Dude's just laying it out there, BS. Also, Rapids-Hibbing means something every time the clubs hit the ice against each other, regardless of who isn't hitting the ice.

Johnson played last night, but didn't look anywhere near 100% as he is just coming off an illness that caused him to miss the Tue game vs Denfeld.

Rapids sure doesn't seem to have much offensive depth, but they have one great line, 3 excellent defensemen, and a superb goalie. I think they have just as good of a chance as anyone to win 7AA, especially if teams give them some power plays.

Hard to believe the younger Bischoff is just a freshman. That kid will also play for Lucia someday.

That was the only time I've seen either team play live and I can agree with you. Hibbing outside of two players looked small and outmatched. Rapids owned the net and hibbings net minder made some nice saves.

Johnson looked sick. Barely noticed him in the d zone but when he got the puck in transition he looked just as good as any other player I've seen play highschool.

The last few games Rapids has got a few other names besides the top line showing up on the score sheet. The 2nd and 3rd lines have been looking more cohesive. That could be from switching Mann and Jonah around, I like that move, and having Jake Bischoff play with the 3rd and 1st line.

Hey Northwoods, how is your take on Jonah looking now? Still think he should be in Bantams?

7AA

That's a BIG win for the Thunderhawks. Should keep them in the running for a top seed in 7AA. I see 7AA riught now as:

1) East
2) GR
3) ER
4) Cloquet
5) Flake
6) Andover
7) St. Francis
8) STMA
9) Cambridge

It is a big win, but things probably would've gone a lot differently indoors. Good win though GR.

I know, it would have been 7-0 Rapids at the IRA. 8)

Leave the seedings just like that, it's exactly what I want. Please please please!!! Wait, switch FL and Andover around, Huskies have been a little better IMO.

The game is played outdoors on Hockey Day for a reason. Good thing Rapids scored going into the wind or you would have something else to oink about.

Surprisingly every goal was scored going into the wind.

FYI both teams had to play outside in the miserable conditions, not just BSM.

Pretty slim section after you take East out. They should walk through with ease!
1-East
2-ER
3-CEC
4-FL
5-GR
6-Andover

Rapids is a 2/3 seed, FL is absolutely #6.
