Kuhlman actually left Esko yesterday and Lumberjack hockey.
Sorry, Dr. Oz...
No need to be sorry, dude. The Eskomos don't get to claim many elite hockey players as theirs.

By the way, elite players leave to for the challenge. Thats what elite players do. Minnesota seems to only have one mold for hockey players:
1. play association hockey (never AAA)
2. play high school hockey (never AAA)
3. junior hockey hockey AFTER senior year
4. college hockey (never major junior), dont want to miss out on this,
you know the only reason they go is for the education (barf!)

Step out of line and you are squashed. Dare you try to be better.
I really don't mind when upper class men decide they are ready to take the jump from HS to juniors/major juniors.

But I get a little hesitant with kids leaving so early. The success rate is low as far as kids that make it to the NHL and I don't want some of these kids to miss all of high school and regret it.

If ALL you care about is hockey, then I guess go ahead. But there is more to life.

Plus, I think its been shown the WCHA does a fine job at developing NHL talent.

is this true?

Yes, many players have done it over the years.

I could be wrong but I seem to remember a 10 game maximum in a junior season, made up of pre and post HS season. Does that sound correct??

I believe the 10 games were for the ushl team they are playing for. If they played 10 or more games that team could put them on their protected list, if not, they would be subjected to the draft.

If a player is on a USHL's affiliate team, he can only play a maximum of 10 games per season. He is not eligible for post season play.

The roster freeze for the USHL was February 10th this year so no non affiliate player can be added to the roster at this time.

In Gerisch's case, he was added to the 23 man roster prior to his arrival so he is eligible to play in the post season.

Wahlin will be playing for Ames this weekend. I can't wait to see how he does. Hope he plays his 10 games and comes back to white bear for Junior year. Then makes the permanent jump after the season completes.

Do these players only play/practice with these teams on the weekends?

Is attending high school optional? On-line homework?

I wish all these players the best on and off the ice.

This one was predicted by Bo on the Freshman scoring thread a while ago. At least he waited until his season was over.
