Lee, if someone has legitimate information as to who brought this complaint forward, would you as the admin be opposed to them being named?? Seems only fair to me...
Only if it is revealed in the media first.

I have heard the name of one of the parties involved, but if the board admins are opposed to them being named or if it would result in me being banned, no way I'm saying anything....

What line the kid plays on is a bit irrelevant I would say. If the accusation were for something major, should we only listen if it came from a 1st or 2nd line player?

Would love to see him take the job in Hibbing, now that DeCenzo has stepped down. Leave Cloquet in the dust.
You loyal Esse fans, I would be careful about what beer you buy.

I remember playing pee wee in duluth about 1970 we had a guy screwing around in practice. He is now a duluth attorney the coach blew the whistle and had us form three lines a stick length apart. He had to skate the gauntlet we could swing our sticks or throw them below the neck. he was crying, but quit screwing around in practice. Not that I condone this but it does make swearing pale in comparison.

This is all very sad. Esse is an outstanding coach, and I guarantee there are a ton of programs throughout the state who would take Esse in a heartbeat. There aren't many programs that have had the success that Cloquet has had, which is a direct affect from Esse and all of the people who have put their time in to make the association what it is today.
I could go on and on, but this is a perfect example of daddy who has too much money, and dislikes the coaching staff so he wants to do anything he can to get them fired.
I hope the school board knows that the complaintant told many people in the area a couple of years ago "I am going to get the boys HS coaching job". What an absolute joke this is.

I was able to read the complaint itself and I will email Lee later to confirm I know what Im talking about but this has nothing to do with mommy or daddy or money or playing time. I was absolutely blown away by what Esse has done. It makes Mike Randolph look like a saint.

So by reading the complaint, it sounds like you assume everything is true and Esse is guilty?

I would say 10+ specific complaints with names and detailed accounts looks pretty damning, yes.

Sad thing is, things that have happened in the past (were talking YEARS ago) this set of parents are bringing up now???? These parents werent even around..so why are they bringing it up? Because they are desperate. Stuff that supposedly happened in 09, or in 03? REALLY? It's 2012 - 2013... From what I understand it all stemmed from playing time, that got them absolutely nowhere....now there scratching and clawing at anything, big or small, that they get can on him. It's sad.
It's time for them to shut up, move a long and if they can't do that....I'm sure there is someone close by that they could open enroll too.
Just my 2 cents

Kind of looks like the future powerhouse programs will not be the schools that recruit, the schools and communities that have money or the communities with a solid youth progam...but the schools that can hold onto good coaches and keep them safe from the parents.
What happens to these kids after highschool? Are their parents going to file complaints if their kid doesnt get the job he wants or if he gets yelled at by his boss? Are they going to yell at college professors if their kid doesnt get an A...

Your questions are obviously rhetorical, and I am sympathetic to your argument, but I think that a bright line can be drawn between parental involvement when their children are minors/still in high school/unable to legally provide consent, and the (hopefully) lesser involvement once those same kids are legally adults and away at college.

We are talking about hockey. In minnesota. Coaches in minnesota are much more likely to produce future NHL players than any other state. Im sure Coaches in texas football or indiana/california basketball are the same way. I'm sure if you asked any professional player they will tell you their coach was harder on them than anyone else on their team. They probably got their asses chewed out and swore at in practice every day. It makes them more competative. I know a lot of the guys that play for cloquet and follow them on social networking sites and read their tweets with F bombs and all the crap they say on there and the back and forth bickering and drama and bullying and it's their parents that are complaining that coach Esse is swearing and yelling at them? What a joke! As a former player Esse taught us to be respectful young adults and role models in the community and we were. Esse and his staff are great coaches and they will continue to be the coachs at Cloquet.

This is 100% correct. If a certain player hadn't been sat, nothing would have been brought up, there would be no topic here, and no school board evaluation. But it is what it is.

I do agree, there is a line...but "bright" it is no longer.

It is a new day. Times have changed. The clock won't roll back.
A good speaker can whip a crowd into a frenzy and never say shi#. If you want to keep your coaching job you better figure out a way to do it too. I bet you can.
I think it is silly too, but it still IS.

If you would like to see the name of the dad who started this whole mess, just go to the pine journal and read the letter to the editor. Sounds like he is a little worried about not getting his way and decided to make it public to make Esse and his staff look bad. He has no proof that any of this happened, and if any of those accusations were true, the kids (other than the small group that is involved) would speak out. As a former Cloquet grad, and 3 year Varsity player, I can promise all of you that this is all being blown up and this is far from true.
You should also google his sons Twitter accounts, I believe one of them posted something about parents should live their own lives, and not vicariously through their child's....hmmm, I wonder how his boys feel about all of this???

As EHSHack stated above there are more than 10 complaints from different people lodging separate complaints against Esse. Its time Esse was gone in Cloquet. If you are supposedly a player of his you know what type of person he is and I'm sure you even witnessed some of these incidents yet you come on here and try to say everything the parent said is false. Once the lawsuit is over and the documents released to the public everyone will know the type of person Esse is.

I spent 3 years in that locker room, I definitely know what goes on in there. Duluth George, have you been in there and have seen it with your own eyes? Doubt it, and I guarantee Mr. Dad has never been in the locker room and seen it either. It's allll hearsay my friend. Esse has built that association from top to bottom, it's a joke that he has to put up with any of this.

So what you're saying is that all the people who sent in letters to the school board are all liars and none of the stuff they claim happened to their children ever happened?
