Yeah, your probably right. The Calibre of the Camp would have been MUCH better IF your Son would have been invited.

Here's a thought, being 1 of 1000 in a talented group it's tough to standout. Being 1 of 1000 in a group and leading that entire group in scoring, will likely get you some looks. So, not being invited isn't necessarily terrible, but it may (or may not be) a good indicator of how one should look to plan their future. As I said, just a thought.

Brilliant thought round had . I guess with your brilliant thoughts the future will now change for my son. Sorry he let down the camp this year by not attending, however the caliber of the Lucia camp last year was significantly higher with him attending.

Interesting you would get so defensive in the the first place with my opinion and Gingers opinion being the camp has gone down hill. I also stated the caliber of player had gone down hill. This doesn't necessarily mean your Lil Johnny is a bad player. The overall top talent is just not at the Lucia Camp like it once was.
Do you have any idea how many scouts were in attendance this year and who they represented?

A nice opportunity for a 3A Coach to show the state what he has...

Very good to see three 3A Players in the Elite D League.

Very surprised Mr. Cowger from Hutch not in the League, however many of the other top players in 3A are playing football this fall and makes it hard for them to get to the metro on weekends.

I will just let RollCards keep putting the Luverne Rose Colored Glasses fans in their place.

The Section 3A News Update

Windom New Coach Tim Mellstrom bring with him his son who would have been the leading returning scorer for IFalls this season that will only help the Eagles out.

Redwood is still searching for a new coach. They have a decent group of 8th and 9th graders there hopefully they can find someone to return that program to being competitive.

Hutch is the clear favorite in this section and is having a very good football year defending their football state championship crown. There could be a lot of success in Tigerville this year.

Don't sleep on Willmar who is very well coached and looking at what happened last year in this section come high school playoff time anything could happen in this Section.

Rumors running out of LDC say that a new rink is in the process of being built in Dassel. In the next 5 years you could see the spilt and have two teams. Litch and Dassel Cokato on their own. Litch is a Basketball and wrestling town. DC supplies most of the hockey talent. Will be interested on that front what happens.

New Ulm will have record high numbers for high school hockey.... So many so that they will be forced to cut kids this year.... Still not sure why they had to add Sleepy Eye now hearing they are cutting kids?? Maybe they should of stayed AA?

Luverne still kept their kept Head Coach which is surprising... But I have heard some good things about their Assistant Coach who does a lot with the area district youth teams as far as High Performance in the Spring and Fall.

Worthington and Fairmont will continue to struggle...

There has been talk of Merger of the SWC and SCC... Could we see the day where New Ulm plays Windom, Worthington and Luverne?? DOUBT IT

Morris Benson lost alot of seniors and has a new coach should be an interesting year. Still a very tough team on their home ice.

Finally, Defending Section 3A Champion Marshall only will have about 25 boys out for high school hockey this year. Lowest Numbers for them in over a decade. I thought you would see a boom in numbers from the state tourney bid but not the case. Actually, lost numbers in the youth... Too Bad but still have a new rink in the works which would help them.

A couple hockey problems with having a good football team in a small town: injuries, lack of time to get on the ice pre-season, and, for the really good teams, with Thanksgiving being so late, the hockey season starts 3 weeks before the prep bowl. Tough for Hutch, possibly Marshall, no worries for New Ulm.

Redwood Valley hired Dan Paur for their new coach, he was a JV coach a couple years back and coached the girls team before that (for all thats worth). Should be interesting to see what he does with the program, especially being the third coach there in three years. Hopefully he can bring some answers to the program and get them back on track for the future.

Hey hockey scout, how much will Worthington and Fairmont beat Luverne by this year? How much better will the Trojans and Cardinals record be than luverne's? Please enlighten us.

The only record with talking about is Section Championships.
Marshall has the bragging righs this year!

I would hope that Luverne will be able to beat the Fairmont's and Worthington's this year. Never said they would not be able to do that. It is more a question of can they compete with the Hutch, LDC, New Ulm and Willmar's.

I am just trying to go off what I have heard from people. Sounded like many in the program were looking for a new direction so I reported that. I also reported I have heard good things about the Assistant Coach in his work with area High Performance and Coaches in Youth Ranks.

Good to hear Redwood has found a new lead man I am hoping he can bring some stability to the program. You will see Redwood get more competitive this year and next as they had a decent bantam group coming in.

Also Hutch football is a good thing in the regard that if the boys win in football that success can carry over to hockey.

Bad in the fact that if you make the Prep Bowl this season you will be THREE WEEKS Behind. Why in the world does Football run so long no wonder you are seeing more and more hockey kids participate in soccer

Nice job by Luverne's Toby Sengvongxay to get called up to Team GP in the elite league for a game yesterday vs SSM.

He was already having a great start to the elite D season. I know, I don't have a horse in the Sec. 3A race, but wanted to give him some recognition anyway.

Great news for Section 3A to have a kid in the Elite League is a big step. Shows kids can play the game..... Also goes to show does not matter where you play if your good enough your talents will be recognized in the Great State Of Hockey!

He has been brought up in previous post by me. He is the 8th grader who has come through the youth ranks and looks to be playing high school this year.

He is a one and done kid like Schaeffer from Marshall who played varsity as an 8th grader and then left for the AAA hockey Midget life. Have heard Shattuck will be his destination. No way he stays in Luverne. Very solid talent.

Problem with all 3A teams is when they get really good kids in their program they are unable to keep them. Tough to build programs when you get the rare dynamite player and then they leave.

Hutch has some really nice players at that age as does New Ulm. They are more likely to retain their talent then a Luverne. Which is why generally Hutch and New Ulm remain favorites and Luverne does not contend every year rather every maybe 3 or 4 years.

Should be an interesting year in 3A to say the least. Hutch and New Ulm are clear favorites but as last year proved anything can happen in this section.....

Lost a STUD defenseman thats going to really hurt. Lost a forward who scored a ton of points, and his winger. Other than that, the core of the success returned. Another year of development for some of the younger players is going to be evident. Your going to see a better team from Luverne this year IMO.

Willmar will not be denied in 2013/2014. Loaded with seniors. Solid tender in Goosemann. Eventual section 3A champion.

Goosemann played in 3 games last year and had a 5.33 GAA and a .797 SV%, wouldn't exactly call that a solid goaltender. So that's Willmar's goalie situation. New Ulm has Kraus coming back, should be pretty solid there. Hutch has Allen coming back with decent numbers and Litch has Wahl who played shaky towards the end of the year. Meyer coming back for Luverne is huge, had a good year last year, but didn't play as competitive of a schedule as the 4 teams mentioned before. With Marshall, they have Campion coming back who played pretty well all year and really well during sections, but again, Marshall doesn't play as tough as a schedule.

Does anyone know what these teams have coming up from Bantams for goalies?
