I think that some people should look out for and watch sam buttweiler from St.cloud tech. Last year he put up great numbers and same his sophomore year. Look for him to light the lamp a few times in a weak and confused CLC.

Buttweiler could be Mr. Hockey? Gee, that would surprise me. Not saying he is not a good player, but I would be very surprised if Mr. Hockey came from St. Cloud Tech this year...they had a better shot at putting a player into that title last year, wouldn't you say?

Buttweiler?? LMAO

There is no real Mr. Hockey candidate in the Central MN area this year. Streit at SR, Noack at SCC, or Osmondson at Princeton are the only seniors that could even be considered. Osmondson's a nice player and probably the top senior out here, but unless you're really lighting it up in the Elite League (NOT the Tier II pretend league) and from a top program you won't be in the running.

I can't think of any player in the past several years from this area that could even have been on the top 20 list....

Michael Sauer, had he decided to stay in high school, would have likely been a very strong front runner for Mr. Hockey this year, and CERTAINLY a top 20... and he is a central Minnesota boy, starting with Sartell and ending his high school career with Tech after his sophomore year....just thought I would remind you...

Wasn't St. Cloud Tech's Travis Winter a Mr. Hockey candidate like 3 years ago. He put up some pretty big numbers his senior year and if I am correct, he is currently at Bemidji State.

Sauer is the real deal, but he played ONE year for Tech as a sophomore and moved on. (and he probably did the right thing to boot) Yeah, if he had stayed he would be a contender, but he didn't.

I was talking about guys out here that are possible nominees, and Winter was a good one that I missed. Hartman and Howe both left, so don't tell me that they could have been, they bailed so they weren't eligible. Swanson's a good player, but wasn't really at that level then either, at least not a top 10. (perhaps a top 25..) Schmidt and Ridelaub might have been, but then again, their names didn't come up so they must not have been either.. (2A Old Timer would probably say thank you to the JV Feel Good Hockey era for that... right BA?)

On that list just above this, that is a pretty darned good list of the top players. I'd stick with that and keep moving.

Scottparker, I brought up Sauer because I thought your implication was that there was no talent around in central Minnesota (eligible or not) and that there hasn't been any athlete to be considered even in the top 20 from this area ....just sticking up for and reminding the readers some fine stuff has come from this area.....but they have gone on to greener pastures before "Mr. Hockey."

Yep

There is some talent in the central part of the state, and more to come in the next couple of years. There is no real Mr. Hockey candidate this year at least. And Buttweiler for sure is not of that caliber... That's what started my discussion. So in effect, we agree...

Wait, wait, wait...hmm scottparker as I look back at previous posts it seems as though you never posted who should be mr hockey. All you do is bash everybody and they are like 25 years younger than you considering your 40 or so living you little hockey pipe dream through these players. Or let me see, maybe your still in high school or just graduated and you realize how crappy you are so you once again live your hockey life through others...Congrats buddy! Your a WINNER at heart!

who else other than tim niccum of mound. with forearms the size of his necks he has the hardest shot in the state. he also has an unconvetional skating style but his still has top seed. he runs off the tips of his skates while using his stick as an oar. but it works and he is sure to be mr. hockey

I find it interesting that you put Mike Forney on your list and don't even know a thing about him. He is 6'3" i would say about 200 lbs and he plays forward for Thief River Falls. I still think he will win it because of the supporting cast he has.

I just added him because a.) Everyone else had him on it and b.) i wanted a big list and i needed more guys to fill it...

According to the past, unfortunately, neither Barriball or Fulton or anyone else from a private school will win. It just doesn't happen.
Maybe someday that will change
.

Are you serious? You think that Machacek,Peckscamp, or Fredrickson, who are all from Eastview, have a chance to win Mr. Hockey? None of them are even playing in the Elite League. Just because you are an Eastview fan doesn't mean you have to be irrational in your thought process when evaluating your players ability. The only players that have a chance are the following six. In order of probability.
1. Barribal
2. Forney
3. Fischer
4. Stewart
5. Grun
6. Fulton

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... otice7>Hot Ice 7 at: 10/28/05 4:08 pm

No, he's a SC Tech kid.

No real candidates out in central Minnesota unless you count Carl Sneep in Brainerd, and he's a looooooonnnngggg shot as well.
