The Coliseum is the Metro Dome of high school hockey. Both were/are horrible buildings. The only reason people have fond memories of them is because of the epic events that took place there. The '87 & and '91 World Series were fantastic events to be a part of and experience. But they would have been even better in better stadiums.

The building did absolutely rock at times, as did the Metro Dome in '87. Sitting in it Friday night, an associate of mine g=looked around and wondered if the Soviets had built it as a part of an International Peace Mission. It served it's purpose by default, there is no comparably sized facility around.

By default or not, its a great place for hockey, sad to see it go.

No more than the Metro Dome was a great place for baseball.
