Youre saying Jake Lietner isn't one of the more physical kids in the state?elliott70 wrote:If you are talking Bemidji's strength, they are physical but not real big, average size.
Their strength is
1st line - fast & skilled
2nd line - fast & skilled
3rd line - skilled and fast
4th lime - smart and physical
4 D that move the puck up ice by themselves and are very good passers.
5 D not as versed at carrying the puck, but perhaps has the best shot from the blue line (hard and accurate).
6th D is young and gets less time.
Goal tending very good to excellent (and very little difference between 1 and 2 - thus making for very effective practice).
Coaching, we have a Thief River guy, a Rochester guy, a Warroad guy, not sure where the 4th guy is from. So between the 4 of 'em there is at least one brain (J/K can't help myself)
3AA might be down in overall talent this year, but STA is one of the top 3 teams in the state. Likely have several D1 players in their top 2 forward lines.thespellchecker wrote:3AA is the weakest conference. Just wanted to share that. Thank you
My buddy Jake plays physical, but he is not oversized.IGotDibs wrote:Youre saying Jake Lietner isn't one of the more physical kids in the state?elliott70 wrote:If you are talking Bemidji's strength, they are physical but not real big, average size.

Must have been your JV team that played HT then right?elliott70 wrote:If you are talking Bemidji's strength, they are physical but not real big, average size.

2 player missing form 1st line, 1 from the third and a starting D.pekyman wrote:Must have been your JV team that played HT then right?elliott70 wrote:If you are talking Bemidji's strength, they are physical but not real big, average size.

I talked to one of the coaches about that loss this weekend and he didn't seem to think the Hermantown game would be indicative of how potential games in the state tourny might go. A lot of their best players out of the lineup like you said. He said he was really excited to see how this year turns out, and thinks they should be even better next year.elliott70 wrote:2 player missing form 1st line, 1 from the third and a starting D.pekyman wrote:Must have been your JV team that played HT then right?elliott70 wrote:If you are talking Bemidji's strength, they are physical but not real big, average size.

But losing to Hermantown is nothing to be ashamed about.

Let's not forget Bemiji is a young team. Only 2 seniors this year I think. There are gonna be some games where they don't play like they should. If they make it to state, I expect them to play very competitively.
I think the coach I spoke with said there is a freshman who's going to be a sophomore next year that they expect to start. I don't know he's doing bantams or is JV right now. Way too early to know for sure though.elliott70 wrote:6 seniorswarriors41 wrote:I talked to one of the coaches about that loss this weekend and he didn't seem to think the Hermantown game would be indicative of how potential games in the state tourny might go. 1 first liner
1 starting D
2 on 4th line
2 goalies
a seventh senior suffered a concussion and is done playing hockey or other contact sports.
The big ? is goal tending. JV have 2 good ones but JV and varsity are two different things.
Matt F. is F goalie on JV that should get the starting nod but the other goalie is decent also.warriors41 wrote:I think the coach I spoke with said there is a freshman who's going to be a sophomore next year that they expect to start. Even with the "recent success" I still find it funny how for at least the last three years at state they have had a game go into running time cause they get spanked so bad.nahc wrote:Um, here we go again with the 1AA bashing!! Long history of success? Nope. Recent history (last 5 years) of success (ie Consolation championship, 3rd place finish, state runnerup) is darn close to being the best AA finshes in the state!!! This year will be no acception......!!!!!! Jaugernaut or no jaunernaut!!!

Hate to burst yer bubble, but . . . . . "Consolation" is NOT a "Championship"

Book the trip to St. Paul now!! Would love to see the Jacks down at the Excel, but their weak schedule is going to catch up with them and they will not handle the pressure of playing in a game with something on the line.elliott70 wrote:If you are talking Bemidji's strength, they are physical but not real big, average size.

It means nothing about the other teams. I Don't care about the other teams, I'm talking about your teams. One game might not make a season, but from 2014, the thing I will always remember about North was how they did a no show and got shellacked in the biggest game of the season. In 2012 the thing I will always remember about South is not the upset but them looking like a team from section 3A and giving up double digits to Benilde. Maybe I remember that being a negative person, but that game really stuck out to me. 2013 North was only at the X for one game where they gave up 9 so I don't really have much else to say about that one.nahc wrote:Green so what does that say about the teams that have been beaten for the 1AA team to get to where they ended up? One bad game does not make a regular season or tourney ....
