That's the logic occasionally but the reality is it is also an event highly scouted by coaches/scouts of all levels (including NHL) and it helps give evaluators an idea of who might be good candidates for call ups, other US teams, etc. After all, they get to see you against the best of your age. If you get an offer to tryout, it makes sense to go even if you have little intention of actually playing for the NTDP. It is still valuable exposure whether you have a college commitment or not.Sauce wrote:Doesn't mean Anderson/Poehling etc. were not invited...some players do decline.
